Hi everybody out there!
I have some good news for all Freedom Call fans and those who join in in the future!
Right after the successful European tour with Rage in March and April the band went into the studio again to write new songs for a new Freedom Call album. The songwriting is almost finished. In October we start with the drumrecordings taking place in Hannover. The recordings of the whole album should be finished by the end of December. Tommy Newton is doing the final mix in January. The release will probably be in April/May 2007.
The working title of the album is called "Dimensions"! Please let us know your opinion about this title!

There will be 11 songs on "Dimensions", style-wise closer to the "Eternity" album, that means less experiments and many fast and melodic speed hymns!

Here are some working titles: Mr. Evil, Far Away, Mission Divine, Firestorm, Dimensions, Blackened Sun, Power, Starborn, Ride the universe, Heaven is Hell, Castaway

I really liked Circle Of Life. Even more than a year on, i still spin that album (mostly play Mother Earth or Starlight first). I also liked Eternity as well. I hope a mix of both will be the result of the new album. Nice song titles too...

SPV/ Steamhammer - PRESS RELEASE
FREEDOM CALL
"DIMENSIONS"
=> New album out April 23rd
=> Gigs in Germany with DRAGONFORCE

If you ask Freedom Call fans about the outstanding characteristics of their favourite band, they tend to list two main qualities: melodic and up-tempo. Both attributes will come to bear again on April 23, 2007 (Germany: April 20), when vocalist/guitarist Chris Bay, drummer Daniel Zimmermann and the two new additions, Lars Rettkowitz (guitar) and Armin Donderer (bass), release their current album, Dimensions, proving emphatically that Freedom Call are still among the most passionate and dynamic German metal acts.

Stylistically, Dimensions is a successful liaison of the group‘s basic strengths and new, contemporary influences. Or, as Daniel Zimmermann puts it: "Even if the two predecessors, Eternity und The Circle Of Life, took very different directions, both albums had a number of strong moments. Dimensions combines the most successful elements from both albums, in other words: we included our penchant for fast and very melodic numbers from Eternity with the more contemporary, bombastic components of The Circle Of Life." The album reveals that Freedom Call have found two talented songwriters in Lars Rettkowitz and Armin Donderer: four of the eleven tracks on Dimensions were penned by them, the other seven were written and composed, as usual, by Chris Bay and Daniel Zimmermann.

The eleven new numbers (plus intro) were recorded at the FC studios in Nuremberg, while the drum parts were cut at the Area 51 in Celle by Daniel Zimmermann with the support of Tommy Newton (Helloween, Kamelot, Victory), who also mixed and mastered Dimensions. The cover artwork was designed by Paul Raymond Gregory (Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Blind Guardian) and suits the thread of the lyrics to a T. The album raises the question where the climatic disaster will lead, what the fate of the human race will be, and whether our future may be not on earth but far away on another planet of the universe. Could a subject be more topical?

Freedom Call are scheduled to play four shows with Dragonforce around the album‘s release date, followed by various summer festivals and an extensive European tour in Autumn.

WTF cover art?!

I'm looking forward to this quite a lot. I found The Circle of Life to be disappointing but i still have faith in them. And i'll definitely see them if they come to Sweden :dio:

Eternity was very well made power metal but it's pretty generic-sounding. They should evolve their sound instead of clinging to the past.

I loved Eternity to bits. I can forgive a few fillers if you put songs such as Metal Invasion, Warriors and Flying High on the same album.

I really like all of their albums. Circle of Life got a lot of flack here when it came out, but I thought it was an excellent work of catchy rock/metal!

Again, can't wait for this. It took me a while, but I really got into The Circle of Life. With elements from that album and Eternity, this should be amazing.

I only own The Circle of Life, and I like it for the fact that there's more variation on it than their other albums, and I like some of the experimentation. If they are taking a step backward, that's dissappoiting to me.

Truer words are nary spoken.

Also: what the heck is that cover art about? Its like someone just threw a bunch of shit at the wall and left it where it stuck.

Anybody else heard this yet?

After listening to it a few times now, it's not as good as I said it was. I mean it's awesome, but it doesn't hold a candle to Eternity.

Of course it doesn't hold a candle to Eternity. Nothing does. But it is a tight, focused and overall above average effort.

Magic Moments is so damn catchy I just fell in love with the world again.

I didnt like this album much at all after one listen. Blackened Sun, Far Away, and My Dying Paradise were the only songs that stood out for me. This seems even worse initially than their last album (Which has actually grown on me since).
