This forum is designed to name and shame the cancer of metal, the bands who aren't, never were or never will be a good thing to metal. I'm structuring it to help people distinguish that some bands should never be talked about unless abuse is the only thing said about them and to teach people just to steer clear of the shit.

To start with-

Limp Bizkit - Arguably the sole creater of the dark times of Metal where blending rap to down tuned guitars seemed to have been the only thing that came out of the late ninties. With the most repulsive frontman in history, red caps should be burnt with intent. 'If only we could Fly...' straight into a blender you fat prick!!

Linkin Park - If Limp Bizkit created Nu-Metal, Linkin Park made the money. Turntables, samples, trash-rapping, an image of punks mixed with manga. Never good, NEVER GOOD. Your girlfriend may like 'em, but they were a boyband that had one idea and tortured the mainstream with it over two albums of utter bollocks.

Ken's going to love this thread.

The above two posts are basically right, of course, but those two bands never had anything to do with Metal anyway, just the public's perception of it.

As for an actual Metal band that is utterly repulsive in every sense...In Flames take some beating for making three seperate bandwagon jumps and trying to pass them all off as "progression."

Evanescence - When Britney, Christina and the other pop bitches started to over fill their genre, Amy Lee came up with an idea that another cancerous band, No Doubt, had. Add guitars to their warbling to try a new approach. Ripping off Within Temptation, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, this US band was aimed solely at making one woman the next world pop idol. The band are nothing more than backing to Lee's pseudo Goth image and made money because of it, the swines.

Papa Roach - Seriously. This band has had more image changes than Madonna trying to cash in somewhere. Coming in on the back of the nirvana angst, through a Nu-metal influx they're currently reinventing themselves as Guns N Roses thanks to other cancer Avenged Sevenfold. Just trying their hardest for the kids cash, just don't ever be tempted, ever!

Metallica - They released four hugely influential thrash albums in the 80s. Then in the 90s they played commercial (though still good) hard rock, and then totally dropped the ball with St. Anger. With St. Anger, fooling sheepish fans into believing they "evolved."

I thought this thread was about bashing bands that never were or never will be relevant to metal. And Metallica had a HUGE relevance in the 80s. Now they have other kind of relevance. They are metal's greatest joke !! Just look at MR's 2003 awards, the "joke of the year" title went to metallica for almost every reviewer.

Oh, and if I had to quote some useless band, I'd say Marylin Manson.

The new guy looks like he's going to become the old guy if anything else bad happens.

Limp Bizkit are a good band. Durst is a great frontman. Borland is a killer guitarist.

:)

Radagast is right as usual.

I haven't heard of any of these other bands being metioned.

I won't say that I completely agree with either post...but I agree with bits of both. Limp Bizkit really didin't do anything good for metal/rock...however they didin't start off as a bad band. The first album 3 dollar bills ya'll or whatever the heck it was called was a pretty darn good album. I think they went very fast downhill after that, but it doesn't mean that they are horrible by any means. Durst is the kind of guy you hate in the metal industry because he took his fame and exploited everything he could out of it. He became a media whore...and where is he now. The only time I ever hear anyone talk about him anymore...is a situation like this...where someone bashes the crap out of him.

I like limp bizkit on the idea of the first album...I think after that the band became a media tool that durst could exploit the living hell out of. He had his 15 minutes...now no one really cares. I take back my earlier statement...they did do something good for metal/rock...they put out their first album. That's all I can really give them.

I don't blame Durst though...if I had a band that happened to have a niche that I could ride...I can't say I wouldn't do it. I just don't think I'll ever create music that can really be exploited in such a way...I have a little more pride in it.

Slipknot!

ARGH!! FUCKERS!!! Oooh, look at me! I wear a scary mask and can play drop-D one finger chords! OOh!!! I mean, come on, who the fuck needs 9 band members? and half of 'em don't even do anything, just jump around onstage! And sure, the drummer isn't bad, but everyone who listens to slipknot I know is all like "yeah dude that guy from slipknot is like the best drummer in the world" and I'm like "dude listen to this, it's George Kollias from Nile" or "guy named flo mounier, awesome shit, check it out...". One slightly more intelligent guy actually realized that Flo was better than the guy from Slipknot or Fear Factory, but otherwise... I HATE SLIPKNOT!!!! FUCKERSSSS!!!!!!

Well, strangely enough, I like slipknot. That band got me into metal. so they got my respect.

You can listen to anything, as long as you listen to it the right way.
