Cradle is hit and miss with me... well actually a whole bunch of misses and Damnation and a Day being the only true hit.

I watched the video for: Give into temptation... and well, I wasnt impressed.. but Im not one to judge an album by a single.


So - I'd like impressions.

Hmmm, for me...CoF are getting worse since Nymphetamine...

I loved all the early stuff...Midian was awesome...so was damnation and a day. But well, seems like the new stuff isnt my thing

I liked Nymphetamine. The songs i've heard from this album just sounds like shitty watered down versions of Nymphetamine songs.

I liked this better than the old ones.

for some reason, i just cant stand CoF. it's nothing against the band, i just cant listen to them.

Nyphetimine was ok but I don't know if I will buy this. Risking Kens Wrath I don't really think they have a great album since Cruelty and the Beast.

I'm listening to the new album now, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I like almost everything CoF have put out so far... even Nymphetamine grew on me after a few listens, but this is a bit different.

Lyrically it sounds a lot like Nymphetamine, in that there are a few remorseful / introspective songs ("The Byronic Man", which reminds me of "Absinthe with Fauste" off Nymphetamine), and there is an 'overly zealous towards religion' song ("Tonight in Flames", which is reminiscint of "Nemesis").

Musically I really like the intro "Under Pregnant Skies..." and the lead-in to "Dirge Inferno". The beginning of "Under a Huntress Moon" sounds just like "Medusa and Hemlock", but otherwise is a decent song.

The one thing that really gets me are the vocals. I usually LIKE Dani's really scratchy shrieking vocals, and it sounds like on this album he tried to do a more mid-range scream that doesn't work at all. He still has the gutteral snarls, and some songs have his usual shriek, but when he tries the mid-range screams it's just not pretty... maybe that could be good for someone who didn't like the shrieks?. Also, the vocals on "Temptation" (sung by Dirty Harry?) sound like they took a regular vocal track and sped it up... it sounds like ass.

To be fair I've only listened to it all the way through once, so I can't really say if it's any good or not with much authority... I'll say my initial reaction to it is a 65 or a 70.

I thought it was decent at best. Not bad, but nothing really good eithier. I'd give it about a 72, it's allright while it is on, but there's not much that will make you want to come back for more. Nothing about it makes it "stick" in your mind. There's much better stuff this year that deserves your attention/money. Only get this if you just can't get enough Cradle for some reason, or you just have to own every album. Casual fans should keep moving down the aisle.

Yeah I think I am done with Cradle, I have all of their albums but I break the cycle on this one I think.

Since when does Cradle of Filth not play extreme Heavy Metal with black/death vocals?

A. Their music was never Death Metal by any strech of the imigination.

B. They are a lot more extreme then any thrash band I ever heard

C. They are not and never were Goth Rock. You really think a song like English Fire or even Nymphetimine is "Goth Rock" 69 Eyes are Goth Rock not this stuff.

D. They only thing they have sold out is a bunch of their albums. Is it their fault they are popular?

E. I won't buy their new album more then likely but I own every one of their others and they are all cool and they are all extreme Metal.

The question is; If i liked Nymphetamine and thought it was a solid 75/100, will i like Thornography?

On the basis of what I've heard you'll be like "...why isn't this better? AAAH! Dani, never, ever attempt clean vocals again!"

I'm not a massive fan of the band, i've only enjoyed Nymphetamine and was curious to hear how the new album sounds compared to that one...

As a power metal and gothic metal fan, i read that those types of metal genre lovers would be able to get into Nymphetamine, while actual fans of the band from the start cannot stand it. Well thats somewhat true cos as I said, i do like that album.

Can someone let me know how the new album compares to Nymphetamine musically?

I am an older fan and I liked Nymphetamine quite a bit. I couldn't stand Midian and that one after that though.
