The Diamond Head covers I know of from Metallica are Am I Evil?, The Prince (which I must say became a decent Metallica song), and Helpless.

If you have never heard the NWOBHM, go buy NWOBHM 79 revisted and get your rocks on and learn some. Seriously, I think you would enjoy it.

I listened to it just now. :)

Okay, may be I overgeneralized a little in my original post. Still, I do get the impression that, before Kill'em All, the line between hard rock and metal was more blurred. Especially with the vocals. Perhaps a lot of critics are right in saying that it was the level of intensity and passion Metallica put into their music that made them revolutionary (as opposed to their actual songwriting).

And what about Venom?

You're right, Holocaust did "The Small Hours." What a killer tune. Metallica also cover "Sucking My Love" way back in the day. On the very underrated S&M album they covered "It's Electric."

Dude "It's Electric" was covered on Garage Inc, not S&M.

However, S&M is indeed a great record, despite featuring no Diamond Head covers.

Garage Inc is a 2 Disc covers album, and has some very cool songs on, including really awesome versions of Tuesday's Gone and Whiskey in the Jar. But at the end of the day it's still just a covers album so is nothing exciting.

You're right. I mean't Garage Inc. I was frickin' looking through the booklet when I wrote that. Hehe. S&M is just OK. I think Garage Inc. is great.

I'd forgotten about "It's Electric", but actually, my favorite cover on Garage, Inc. was the Merciful Fate medley :D
