Omg even Pitchfork thought this album was great. Now I really feel like I'm missing out on something

i have to say this is probably my favorite album scince the release of as the palaces burn by lamb of god, its very diversified i like the concept of the album and i like that brent is starting to sing more than on leviathan and remission. i give it a 90 -100 , its a great album

Hand of stone
colony of birchmen
circle of cysquatch

these are my killer songs

I knew I wasn't going to love this going in but it worse than I even expected. One track, Capillarian Crest, and Scott Kelly was all I enjoyed. I thought the album as a whole was going to be much more technical considering all the talk about whether this was "prog" here.

Oh, come on, it's a pretty technical album. There are surely more technical albums, but this is still pretty good in that department.

I do agree that Scott Kelly is a great vocalist and owns any and all Mastodon vocals. I really want to review some Neurosis, but I can't make up my mind which one to do.

I said I wasn't going to like it going in, you know I'm glad you are doing reviews. :dio: I look forward to your Neurosis review.

Thanks man. Your reasoning was fine, just offering my side, that's all.

What's your favorite Neurosis album?

I think a lot of the technical aspect of Mastodon comes from the fact that Brann Dailor spazzes out on his drums as often as possible and the way they overlay their guitar parts during a few of the songs... so like Tool minus the irregular time signatures.

Blood Mountain actually grew on me a bit, I'm still not sure why people are so in love with it, but it does have quite a bit of cool stuff.

Tough call. I like Enemy of the Sun, Through Silver in Blood, and Times of Grace all about equally, just for different reasons. Gun to my head I'd probably pick Enemy because it came first.

Through Silver in Blood will be reviewed as a classic by me, but it may be awhile.

I want to review Times of Grace, but I'm waiting until I get the Tribes of Neurot companion Grace so I can listen to them simultaneously and comment on that aspect. I was thinking either Enemy of the Sun or The Eye of Every Storm in the short term.

I eagerly await these reviews.. I enjoyed The Eye of Every Storm, but I definitely preferred Enemy of the Sun.

The cynic in me thinks it was done with studio trickery. Brent sounds awful live.
