I like the Haunted's first two albums a lot, actually. They seem like a pretty logical step on from SotS era AtG to me. The vocals are nowhere near as good, but some of the riffs are cool as fuck.

In Flames, but like many have said where is DT?
Nothing beats Damage Done for Melodic Death album (IMO).

I voted In Flames because I only like ONE atg record.

however, DT does beat 'em both.

I was originally going to have DT in the poll but I stuffed it up so the winner of this poll will just go up against DT.

I can't really explain it any better than that At the Gate sound more... real. More pure and far from the mainstream status In Flames has achieved. Not that it's a bad thing, but AtG is one of those good ole golden bands who will forever be remembered.

Seeing as ATG's last two albums ripoffs of Carcass's Heartwork, the pick is easily In Flames for me.

At The Gates of course. Zeth's right. In Flames never recorded an album that was as genuine as the albums of ATG. I don't think any melodeath band has.

Thomas Lindberg's scream didn't just sound like a vocal "technique" as most screaming does to me nowadays. It was real: brutal and emotional.

I could go on and on about the music, but I have class in 20 minutes.
