Monday I saw Epica and Kamelot.
Let me tell you it was quite a show Epica played all my favorites
and Simone was well frickin hot. She's hot in the pictures but let me tell you that the pictures do not do her justice. I was also impressed by mark's vocals, they are very good live.

Epica played(1st 3 in order but not the rest): Hunab K'u, Dance of Fate, Sensorium, Façade of Reality, Solitary Ground, Seif Al din, Cry for The moon, Quietus, Consign to Oblivion, Crystal Mountain (Death cover)

Kamelot, was the main reason I was at this show and they didn't decieve me. Khan's voice sounded great although he seemed to force it quite a bit. Roy Kahn is one hell of a frontman too, he moves well on scene and knows how to get the crowd excited and moving. Same goes with Thomas who interacted quite a bit by playing solos very close to the crowd. They used the venue very well as the used two little balconies that where on each side of the stage to play Don't you cry "serenade" style. They played half of Don't you cry in english and the other half in french(Quebec is mainly a french province for those who don't know). That was a very memorable moment. Overall it was an aewsome show!

songs played(in order): When The Lights Are down, Soul Society, Edge of Paradise (with intro), Center of The Universe, The Spell, Abandoned, Moonlight, Forever, , The Haunting( WITH SIMONE!), Farewell, Karma, Don't You cry/ne pleure pas, March of Mephisto

Watched Omen live in Nicosia (Cyprus) last Wednesday! HOLOCAUST! Most of the band (minus Kenny Powell) basically played a double show, because Phantom X was one of the opening acts and they're basically a project by Omen members.

Anyhoo Omen rocked! They played almost the entire first album (Battlecry), with Die by the blade being one of my top concert moments ever, half "Warning of Danger" and a few from "The Curse" (oppening with the title track, and Goocher growling "Severe the bloodline, give me release", total annihilation), and a couple from Eternal Black dawn (The title track and 1000 year reign, both sounding better live than on the album). Kenny Powell was simply a joy to behold, the guy can really play and put on a great show (wearing the original leather harness!), Kevin Goocher did a great job singing in a tone very reminiscent of late J.D. Kimball, and the rest of the band was also worthy of the legend they helped revive.

After the show I had the priviledge of grabbing a beer with the band since a friend of mine was the promoter who brought them (hail Greg!), they were all great to talk with and also got some nifty pictures and my records signed! I love it how I turn into a fanboy when it comes to this sort of bands!!!

YOU LIVE BY THE SWORD YOU DIE BY THE BLADE!!! EPIC FUCKING METAL FTW!!!

I saw the exact same concert last year. Epica and Kamelot. And I would have to agree, Simone live is waaaaay hotter. I didn't know Epica at the time and they impessed me a lot. Kamelot were fine too, they're one of my favourite bands, but the Khan's mic sound suffered from low mixing at some points, and the crowd didn't react to them as much as with Epica.

Blind Guardian, in dublin, last Wednesday. Amazing. they didn't play Lord of the Rings, damn their eyes, but played an amazing and very balanced set and were just damn great all round. Hansi is a great frontman and his vocals were about 95% perfect.

Monday 25th - Dragonforce -- Packed! Really, really good show - 9/10

Friday 29th - Strato! Strato! Strato! -- Was surprised to see only the first floor open, but figured that many people couldn't afford 2 shows in one week (Dragonforce was packed). It didn't matter. Awesome is an understatement. It was basically a greatest hits show. They played an awesome playlist including Distant Skies, The Abyss of my Eyes ... and VISIONS!. (No Destiny or Legions, but it didn't matter, i heard those last year)

they opened up with Hunting High and Low followed by Black Diamond and SOS. The crowd was realy into it ...

40/10

ciao

Nice. Maybe a US tour? Another band I want to see before I die.

They won't go to the UK, because people in the UK are stupid and also because Gus G doesn't have a sexy fringe.

Angra came to Australia in 2005 and they played at a smallish venue in Melbourne at the Corner hotel I was about 1 metre from the stage and fuck to this day is the best concert I have ever been to . They were so fucking loud my ears rang for about 2 days after....

Recently I have seen Heaven and Hell , Everygrey, Dragonforce all came to Melbourne and Down ( Down =Shit live )

I saw Kamelot august 23rd with Leaves' Eyes as the opener.
That was a good combination although not as good as last years (Kamelot + Epica). It was quite a surprise to see Simone Simons
of epica on stage for the haunting, I wasn't expecting it this time around.

Freedom Call was a minor disappointment last night. The microphones (except for Chris Bay's of course) were turned way too low which made their huge choruses sound much weaker than on CD. They completely butchered "Warriors" and "Metal Invasion" and they didn't even play "Hymn to the Brave" "Mr Evil", "United Alliance" (two average songs from "Dimensions") and "Land of Light" were the highlights.

Nocturnal Rites were very good as usual, Lindqvist sounds pretty much just as good live as he do on CD and the band was very tight. Definitely a better live band then FC.
