You should check out the solo works by the keyboardist from Firewind, Bob Katsionis. It's instrumental prog metal with the focus on catchyness. Should appeal to fans of Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus etc.

Hmmm... I don't think it sounds anything like those two bands, but it definitely rules. Rad got me into this guy a while back. Good stuff indeed.

Bob shreds, but I agree with Nessie that it doesn't really sound like those bands. Jazzier, for one thing.

Well at least Turn of my Century, which i've been listening to, sounds very similar in that it's catchy prog metal, as opposed to more complicated and abstract prog. But maybe the similarities end there, im not that familiar with PM and CM.

^ yay

Come to think of it, has anyone heard the new Firewind album yet? I think it's simply a beast, it might be in my top 5 of the year. Supreme melodic power with an aggressive edge.

I was slightly disappointed, Firewind's worst album i think. Its still good, but Gus G is capable of a lot more.

How much have you listened to it? I wanna point out once more, that I think it's fucking awesome, and the vocals simply own. But to each and his own I guess.

Not so much admittedly, but I just find tracks like Allegiance and particularly Falling to Pieces to be quite flat and boring. I also think Apollo's voice doesn't have the aggression a Firewind vocalist needs despite him being a good singer and also more than capable of singing the old songs live.
