I thought it was nice, way better than their previous, but still an average album when compared to the classics...

Well pretty much anyone who can read on the internet knows that they've got more extended tracks with intros on all of them, and then the rest pretty much rests on the shoulders of the listener to decide whether its good or bad (since I've seen that peoples's opinions can go either way).

I am not usually a fan of this style of music, and I didn't like DOD or BNW (well a little) but this new Maiden is very good. I enjoyed it a lot, and usually Bruce's voice tends to annoy me, but not with this album. I don't know what happened but I like this more Proggressive Hard Rocky Maiden, and I will stand by the best Maiden album since 7th Son. Cause I hate the Blaze stuff...

It is much better then BNW or DOD. You know what it sounds like to me? It sounds like Steve's ideas with Blaze only fleshed out better, better production and Bruce's much better singing. Listen to songs like Virus and Man on the Edge, then this stuff. Easily their best album since the late 80's, easily. It is still a freaking chore and half ot listen too, i wish they would shave a minute off of each song but great album. Good job guys. I lke BNW and DoD though, quite a bit, but this album is fucking great.

I think this statement i found, answers anyone who keep comparing present day maiden with maiden from 20 years ago...

This is an Iron Maiden album for Iron Maiden fans. Those who have matured along with the band will appreciate it, those who delude themselves into thinking it's still 1985 will impotently attempt to criticize it, and the world will keep turning.

I'm not expecting an album's like Maiden's 1985 (maybe because Maiden didn't release an album that year), I'm just expecting good songs.

Also, the rate is after two spins, so it may change but, so far, I find the three 1rst songs rather boring... what I loved is the Black-Sabbathy/Rainbowy feel it has... a nice change of pace but not really a revolution...

btw, does anyone else think those smileys are ugly ?

Hey whats up Stefan? glad to see your back, and about the new Iron Maiden album, i personally liked it, 8/10 for me, and i wasnt expecting an 80s kind of album, they have made very clear that it aint gonna happen, and its ok for me, new Iron Maiden still kick ass, but if i were to compare the new album with the classic IM albums, my score would be similar to yours.

Yeah since they are probably the only band from the 80's outside of maybe Priest on a good day that and King Diamond that can make an album relative to Metal in 2006
