Hey Ken, why don't you chill out and realize that not everyone thinks like you do and you can't shove your taste down everyones throat. You want to be the Queen of 80's butt rock and hair metal be my guest. The early LA scene was cool and underground, it fell apart after that because they all got signed to major labels and it showed they didn't give a shit.

I don't try to shove my tastes down everyones' throats, but when someone comes at me with an opinion that's just laughable I will say it. Virtually every band you claim to like you always pull out the elitist response of liking their first two albums only, blah-blah-blah. It's the company line for elitist turds that think it's trendy to go against trends!

You know what fucker, actually I have heard those Ratt Albums you mentioned and they suck. I have heard Dysfunctional from Dokken, it sucks. Cinderella blew their wad after Long cold winter (which is a great rock album). I was ALWAYS more into Heavy Metal and not 80's Hair Metal anyways. I would show you my collection and I do know a lot about music I just have taste which you don't for somethings. You can't deal with the fact that you listen to commercial fucking souless shit and dig on it. Hey that is cool, just don't expect me to like it.

Commercial soulless shit, eh? See, you like to try to separate yourself from that so-called group of people, that's why you're constantly claiming a band's first few releases are best. You just can't stand to share. I listen to music that pleases me, I listen to most of what you listen to, I'm just not too proud to admit liking something that some people may dislike. All of your opinions on what is good and what isn't are based on what is perceived to be cool or not. You're like the 14-year old kid that LOVES grunge, but then when he's 17 he starts hearing the talk, the fairweather fans that are a bit older now, they're slamming grunge! So he turns his back on nu-metal and claims that most of it sucks! But he does like the early shit, not Nirvana, of course, they were too popular. He digs a bit deeper, he still like early Mudhoney and the first few Soundgarden albums; he likes Tad, but doesn't like Inhaler too much (by God, that album had a mild hit song). He doesn't like Pearl Jam, but Malfunkshun, Mother Love Bone and Green River were awesome!! Hahaha. That's you, leeee. You must have gotten picked on a lot growing up.

In the 80's I was listining to Heavy Metal, that is what I love, Heavy Metal, when bands like Dokken and Motley Crue stopped playing it (Def Leppard is the biggest fucking sell out of all time btw) I stopped buying their albums. They suck to me, get over it. I was too busy enjoying real Heavy Metal to give a shit what Warrant and Slaughter were doing.

Just get off of your fucking high horse and calling everyone elitest because you listen to shit and like it. We have the right to be picky with our money and what we like. I started listinnig to Metal in 82 and I know what I like by now.

I only call you an elitist because you are one, yet you can't admit to it. But you are indeed an elitist. You claim all these bands suck to you. Well, how come their first few albums don't suck? Oh, that's right, because you're an elitist. You always want to pull out that card that states: I Was Listening To This Band Before They Got Popular or Before They Sold Out. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

And you're a retard if you think Def Leppard sold out. Just because the production on early albums was more raw doesn't change the FACT that the songs were written the same exact way!

You are just a stubborn ass when it comes to music and/or why people like certain things. You just think your shit doesn't stink because you are all open minded and stuff and sit back and act all superior, you are the biggest fucking hypocrite on the 'net.

I will tell you what man, the reason I like the first few albums by certain bands is because they are better. If you honestly think 90's Dokken is better then Breaking the Chains or Tooth and Nail then you are just a tone def retard.

Yeah, fucking Hysteria sounds just like On through the Night Ken.

Whatever, you know what you can get all indigant over the fact that some of us don't like the same shit as you do and go on and on why Warrant is a good band but it doesn't matter because most of us know the truth.

You can all fucking crusade for the trounced upon shit bands of the 80's if you want and the rest of us can be into good Heavy Metal again it doesn't matter.

But the one thing you need too stop, because it makes you look like an idiot is this screaming and ranting everytime someone has a different opinion then you do of the relative merits of 80's mainstream MTV metal, cos you are just being gay.

Calling me Elitest is asinine as well but if it makes you feel better that is cool.

Yeah I don't like grunge at all, especially fucking Pearl Jam and Alice and Chains but I do dig TAD, the Melvins and Nirvania? You know why? Cause they are good fucking bands.

Yeah you do, you always fucking want everyone to think like you or you call them names and start flame wars or they are elitist.

Dude you can listen to all the shit music you want, but I am going to call you on it, especially the New Kids on the Block era Def Leppard, fucking Warrant and other gay ass butt rock from the 80's. You know what dude you can have all fo that shit and if liking real Heavy Metal (and this is laughable because I don't even like thrash that much) make me Elitest then I am proud of it.

So yeah, you are the biggest hypocrite on here.

Quit making things up. You're a spinster. Who's acting all superior? How am I a hypocrite? You're telling me certain bands or albums suck. I am telling you they don't suck. So tell us all, bud, how am I any different from you? Who's the hypocrite here?

Quote:

Not once did I compare any of those albums. Again, you're making up an argument point.

Quote:
Yeah, fucking Hysteria sounds just like On through the Night Ken.

On Through The Night came out in 1980, it was written and recorded in the late 70's. Are you telling me an album from the late 70's should sound identical to an album from the late 80's? Just listen to the harmonizing on "Rock Brigade," "Hello America," "Satellite" and many, many others from that album! Are you saying that with a late 80's production that album would sound the same? Please! It would sound like Hysteria.

Quote:
Whatever, you know what you can get all indigant over the fact that some of us don't like the same shit as you do and go on and on why Warrant is a good band but it doesn't matter because most of us know the truth.

I don't care if people don't like the same shit as me, leeeee, that's what you're missing!

Quote:

Now you're all fired up! Predictable.

Who's ranting and raving here? Again, are you being a hypocrite? Hate 80's rock all you want, and you can "rant and rave" all you want—which you ALWAYS do—but don't expect me to sit back and not also give my opinion. Almost everything you've whined about here, you've done!! Is this Leeee Street? A one-way?

It's not.

Good. Tad rules.

leee wrote:

No. That is incorrect. I haven't started a flamewar here. If anyone has it's you. And again, I only call you an elitist because you're the only one that acts like one.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Again, YOU can call me on it, but I can't call you on it, and that's makes ME the hypocrite? Hahahaha.

I win again. :)

I will tell you this, the reason I lost interest in metal around 90 or so ist because of all the bands you mentioned and how much I hated their albums and I couldn't find anything new I like and I got really into Alternative music for awhile.

Then thank god along came Carcass, Entombed, Godflesh and some others and restored my faith in the genre I love. Seriously I really hardly heard any Metal from like 90 to about 94.

So you can call me whatever you want but I know what I like. It was just like blah for awhile, all the good NWOBHM bands were dead or turned to shit (Def Leppard and to be fair even Saxon was a shadow of itself), Cliff died and Metallica was putting out sub par crap. Slayer did the same albums two times in a row and I found I only liked SoH, Rust in Peace I didn't get. Persistance of Time sucked frm Anthrax, Maiden started sucking. Sanctuary was cool but Dane bugged me. Wasp lost it on that Electric circus album, the Scorpions were playing top 40 crap, Celtic Frost broke up, Bathroy was cool but hard to find. Warlock turned into a hair band, UDO left Accept so I just got out of it. It did me good because now there a Metal bands that play what I always wanted to hear. Stuff like Warrant, Slaughter, Mr Big, Kingdom Come, Badlands etc etc etc I hated. (I do love LA Guns and Faster Pussycat for some reason?)

So yeah, I win.

Dude, I can appreciate all that. Trust me, I can. But what does that have to do with you calling me a hypocrite for doing the exact same thing that you're doing?

Maybe you lost interest somewhere along the way, but that doesn't mean everything turned to shit. There were plenty of metal and rock bands that came out in the late 80's/early 90's that kicked ass. If you missed them, or didn't give them a chance, or just didn't like them, no big deal. It still doesn't mean they sucked.

Yeah but they sucked to me and they were the reason I stopped lisiting to Metal. That is a pretty big thing. All I have to say is thank god for Sweedish Death Metal, Norway and bands like Anathema, Tiamat and Paradise Lost and Finland or I might never have gotten back into Metal.

I call you a hypocrite cause you are always going on about people having the right to their opinion and not being negative yet you turn around and start massive flame wars if someone disses 80's cheese bands or other commercial metal and you accuse them of just being cool and trendy and dismiss them as elitest in a negative manner. Is BS, I am way past the cool and trendy stage and I have full disk collections of a lot of bands that changed their styles and I never accussed them of selling out. You don't catch me whining on message boards because Amorphis and Sentenced dont play Death Metal anymore.

The fact is, is that bands like Dokken they never changed, they just ran out of Ideas and it showed......

Look at Queensryche even, I will give you Promised Land if you want cos at least they tried but they just fall apart after awhile. You can call it elitest if I say I only like the EP and up too Mindcrime but the albums speak for themselves and for the style of Metal I want to hear.

I could go on and on, but maybe you just like that kind of stuff or like with a favorite boxer that is past his prime you refuse to see when a band no longer has it. Hell Amorphis was on the ropes but they came back big time with Eclipse, but I never saw a band from the 80's (Maybe King Diamond) able to surpass what they did when they were hungry and raw. Maybe underground bands can becaue they never get fame or fortune so they are "free" to do whatever they want. Maybe that is why album after album and change after change they can still put out top notch music, where as a band like Dokken, Motley Crue, Ratt can't.

.. anyway, Europe rocks :)
Atleast some of their old stuff, Start From The Dark didn't do much for me and while Secret Society seems to be better I just don't care for it very much.

Speaking of retro I am watching some Live Bon Jovi concert on the "V" channel and Wanted Dead or Alive still sounds cool. I wish they would play Runaway but I don't know if I can watch that long.

Yeah Ken, just to piss you off I only like their first album................:)

Yeah, but they sucked to YOU!! Get it? NOT fact.

To my knowledge I've never gotten into a flame war with anyone here over their opinion of music. I don't care what people like, but when someone says Chaos A.D. is a nu-metal album, I'm going to tell them they're retarded. If that causes a flame war, whatever, I wasn't upset that they disliked the music, just that changing history doesn't change fact.

As for you, leee, you are the hypocrite here. You come out swinging all the time, but you can't handle someone swinging back. You can have your opinion on Dokken and Cinderella, right? But I can't? Is that not the definition of hypocritical?

Quote:
The fact is, is that bands like Dokken they never changed, they just ran out of Ideas and it showed......

Again, NOT a fact! Not even close.

That's totally different. Queensryche drastically altered their sound. Rage For Order QR is a world away from Empire QR. What I don't like is when come in screaming about how they suck now and you can't handle someone with a differing opinion.

It's not about refusing to see when a band no longer has it, dude! How is that not clear to you? If you want Tooth & Nail Dokken, don't listen to Erase The Slate! It doesn't make that album a shitty album just because you say it is. Many bands change. It doesn't mean they suck.

Like I have said only 1 billion times I don't care if you want to listen to has been bands or shitty albums (IMO). If you love them, fine so be it, but everytime someone has a different opinion you flip out and call them elitest and then start a 90 page flame war over it. That is what happenend here.......

Thread after thread after thread. Savatage, I say I don't want to buy any of their newer stuff because their 80's stuff is all I need and I like to keep them there......you call me a fag

I say I don't like Karmacode because they half assed it IMO and forgot how to write a song....95 pages about how I am an elitest fag

I say that IMO bands from the 80's once they got major labels and turned into MTV starts they couldn't write an album for shit.......agian 95 pages on why I am an elitest fag.......

Dude, trust me, stuck in Korea I have nothing better to do then to keep this going forever.

You are hypocrite, you want everyone to be positive and express their opinion freely but if it doesn't agree with you they are an elitest fag. I mean shit Ken, you are the only person on earth I know of that will stick up for 90's Dokken. Fair enough if you like it, is your money but don't shove the "it is a great album down" our throat when anyone with half an ear for music knows it isn't.

You know what and fuck it, if I am an elitest (and I now a lot of people that would die laughing if they knew you called me that for my metal tastes) why do I have to be open minded and accept shit I don't like? I don't and I won't and you can deal with it.

If a band sucks to me then they suck. If they don't to you then they don't. If you can accept that the world will be much easier for you to deal with. I can accept you like that shit, why can't you accept I think it sucks? I don't expect you to like shit like the Project Nihil and if you said it sucked I could deal with it cos it does to somebody that isn't into that kind of stuff......

Leeee, I actually enjoy our little conversations on music. I don't find them to be flamewars at all. I don't want everyone to be positive! They can be negative all the want, I just asked for people to say more than "that fucking band sucks." It makes a messageboard more enjoyable when people DISCUSS music, good or bad.

I do truly believe you have an elitist mentallity, though. In the Savatage thread you implied that Savatage should have stayed in the 80's, that they're newer material is not as good. You said this right as you said you've not heard their newer stuff. Thus you got my "elitist" comment—which was appropriate based off what you said. Then you reply that it wasn't what you meant. Fair enough. Whatever. But I replied to your initial comments.

I think you have the elitist mentality. I may or may not think you're a fag. I could simply be playing YOUR game with that word. Remember, leeee, this is how you like it on a metal forum! Did you forget that?

Quote:
You know what and fuck it, if I am an elitest (and I now a lot of people that would die laughing if they knew you called me that for my metal tastes) why do I have to be open minded and accept shit I don't like? I don't and I won't and you can deal with it.

You don't have to be open-minded and accept shit you don't like! What does that mean? You're saying these bands suck, leee, I am saying they do not suck. Can you not realize that there is NO DIFFERENCE here? You cannot say a band sucks, and when I say they do not suck, call me a hypocrite. That, leee, is text book hypocrisy.

Look at all the discontent that get's stirred up by the thought of a new Europe album

ha ha, that is why these old hair bands should just stay in the 80's and stop riling up guys like Ken who miss their mullet.

For the record, I never had a mullet. I had the beginnings of one.

Fag.

While I do think a lot of bands that enjoyed their heyday during the 1980's went on to release crap later in their career, one would be missing out on some really good music by saying ALL 80's bands turned to shit after time.

Without a doubt, I'd say that any 80's band that is still going today should be treated with the "try before buy" approach. That's simply becuase a lot of these bands clearly don't have it anymore, but some do. You just have to be willing to swim through some of the shit to find the good stuff.

For what it's worth, I think the Europe reunion is a big flop. Their last album was terrible, and this new one doesn't do anything for me after a couple listens.

Even if many bands from yesteryear no longer produce decent music, there is a huge resurgence of this genre in Europe. You just have to be willing to look for it.
