Why wouldn't it be? There's like 8 Slayers out there, and some of them are even still active besides the well-known one. Epidemic was a Death/Thrash band from the early 90's, but that didn't stop the shitty Alt. Rock band from using the name. If you want to use just one word, there's not too many out there that haven't been taken.

I think for thrash you need a one word name that sounds menacing, like Katana or Inquisition

Yeah Ken, Thrash bands need to have a one word name. If it ends in -er, all the better.

Kreator Of Fire, you just have to claim that the original name was Kreator but you had to change it because apparently there was another band with that name.
