Seems more likely that you comprise the 1% of people that don't.

Anyway, how's this relevant?

In many situations, IMO people are just being enslaved by the bottle. I heard Alexi is turning up drunk for shows and stuff, pissing off the fans as well. Well maybe it's 'metal' to drink and get wasted. I'm no hypocrite, don't worry, I love getting wasted. But they should realise that they have to put a stop to it when they need to. I'm not sure who to blame for the band Bodom is now. But I strongly feel, alcoholism has a part. They're not severe alcoholics yet, but I see it in the near future.

I have to agree. I like drinking myself, but I don't show up to my job drunk. After the show, go do whatever you want, but you should be coherent for the show, and give the paying crowd their moneys worth.

People use the nu-metal reference here constantly and most of the time it's incorrect. I'm not basing this opinion on that one statement.

They're music still sounds great with nice production and a beat to headbang too. They are definately not mainstream (not in the UK anyway) and their sound has differed little. So why the aggro?

Or is this another one where the old fans who listened to them at the start want the music to sound like Hatebreeder for evera and ever and resent that a band could ever change against their wishes, ie - Fuck you

Change is a good thing. Without it, Therion would still be average death metal, The Gathering would be crappy doom with a wailing girl, Cradle of Filth would still be good and BM fans would have one less thing to complain about, In Flames would still be good and DM fans would have one less thing to complain about, and of course we'd all be in caves hitting rocks together and listening to shitty old Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
Ok, maybe change can be a bad thing and a good thing.

I am not going to get into it, but I am pretty sure you are the only person who I ever heard say early Therion and The Gathering are crap? You really think the first 3 Therion albums and Mandylion are crap?

Anyways I am lucky enough that I like all of their incarnations but Bodom has never really changed that much IMO, just toned it down on the gay keyboard overload some of the years.

They seem to be having loads of fun with their drinks. Has anyone watched their DVD yet? My friend told that there's one part where the band asks their managers for money to record an album. Nad the manager goes "I want you to have an album by tomorrow morning". Morning comes but the album didnt......they were all wasted in the studio. It was pretty hilarious it seems. Come to think of it, maybe they're just acting drunk on stage, just like how they were on the dvd.

Youy cant deny the riffing is different too. And the overall atmosphere and lyrical content.

They went from Dark, classically-influenced power metal with harsh vocals, to poppy, metalcore influenced power metal with harsh vocals. And thats FACT.

Uhh... there's no metalcore in Are You Dead Yet...all that they changed was their riff style to catchy stuff (suits them much better) and Alexi's singing became less laughable.

Catchy??? right..... if it was catchy i would want to listen to it again, and again like with their earlier work. But I dont.

Their earlier work is a just a mess of too many riffs that go nowhere and do nothing for me. All I got out of Hatebreeder was that Alexi was a good guitarist and terrible singer and songwriter, their later stuff actually has good songs, even if its not very complex or ambitious (which they've failed at, so I consider it a good thing that they know their boundaries). CoB will never be anything more than candy metal to me and their later stuff does that way better than their early work.

You know, Candy Metal is a perfect description of them. Sweet, sugary outside, with pretty packaging, but no real substance.

The fact that you can't draw anything out of the jumble of riffs and melodies on their first three albums does not make it bad music. Christ, you're the one that's always going on about spazzed-out rhythm changes and irregular song structures and now you say Bodom improved because they started palying slower, dumbed down songs?

Yeah that is the whole point I was trying to make, Bodom is Bodom. Actually I don't care for their old shit but from Follow the Reaper own I totally dig.
