I just got Game Over's new demo, NESperado, in the mail and it kicks ass!! Check out this badass tune:

HYRULE'S ANGEL (THE SLEEPING BEAUTY) :dio: :dio:

Anyone listen to this?

Yes.

:lame:

Sorry dude, I still don't see what there is to like. It's just boring. Maybe b/c when I think of video games I think of speed metal. I'll listen to it again with a more open mind.

My most recent prog purchase is:

Buried In Oblivion-Into Eternity

Buried in Oblivion is really good, but doesn't have that greatness factor to it. A little repetitive, I suppose. But still, the combination of vocal types is something you won't find in many other bands...

Did you ever play the original Zelda on NES?

Are you kidding me? NES and SNES games are all I play. I like more of the Contra and Megan Man music though. Zelda still has some catchy music though.

OK, I was thinking maybe you didn't recognize the music. Personally, I think the song is great.

And yes, NES all day, bitches! Dragon Warrior KO1.

Threshold - Hypothetical
Firewind - Forged By Fire
Manowar - The Dawn Of Battle (EP)
Sinner - There Will Be Execution (2CD w/Bonus Tracks)
Trivium - Ascendancy (CD/DVD w/Bonus Tracks)

Yep, I bought the Trivium CD. Opinions to come...

What is all the talk about Trivium in these forums? Pretty good thrash metal band--some of the best thrash of today, IMO--but nothing huge. However, I am looking forward to The Crusade...Detonation showed a more true thrash sound from them. My friend recently saw them live and said they were "amazing", although that may have something to do with them being his favorite band...

EDIT: Oh, I get it...everyone here hates Trivium. All righty then :).

I'd like to hear your comments about it when you get the time to listen to it.

They're not thrash dude. Not even close to thrash. Check out some Kreator, Coroner, Dark Angel, Vio-lence, Kreator, Torture, Testament... list goes on forever (seriously the genre has more bands than power metal has dragons).

Okay, I'll have to check out some of those bands (actually, I already have CD's from a few)...BUT, vocals aside, they are very much a thrash band, or at least have a ton of thrash influence. Detonation, like it or not, is definitely thrash...

I recently purchased some albums that imho kick some serious ass:
- Bloodbound: Nosferatu (2006)
- Theocracy: Theocracy (2004) Debut album
- Entwine: Fatal Design (2006)
- Mob Rules: Among The Gods (2004)
- Sabaton: Primo Victoria (2005)
- Sabaton: Attero Dominatus (2006)
- Nocturnal Rites: Grand Illusion (2005)
- Luca Turilli: The Prophet Of The Last Eclipse (2002)
- Freedom Call: The Circle Of Life (2005)
- Edguy: Vain Glory Opera (1999)

p.s.
I'm a longtime fan of speed/power/melodic metal, ever since I first heard Walls Of Jericho by Helloween (like 15 years ago or something)

Kick ass albums indeed. I've not heard the others.

They're definitely closer to thrash than people want to admit. Take away the vocals and the music is very much a thrash/traditional metal mix. The vocals shape it into something else, though.

That's the reason, though. Honestly, MP3s don't really do it for me. It's not that I'm against MP3s as much as it is that I'm anal. It's like borderline OCD, I just have to own the CD, otherwise, for some reason, I just don't care about the music.
