This was dissapointing for me. To Mega Therion and Morbid Tales are among my faves of all time, I would've loved to hear something that sounds close to them, but I didn't.

Apart from the cover, which is suitably weird, this isn't as good as their older material, as Dogan said, although I don't think it's that bad. You can stream "Ground" from it here, and it's definately listenable. Maybe I should get this before "To Mega Therion" et al...

Someone posted one song from this album a few months ago, and as I recall it was completely terrible.

If it's Ground you mean, I have to completely agree. I am surprised to see this considered a highlight by many, I find it boring as fuck.
The rest of the album fares slightly better, but doesn't save it from being a painful letdown.

well iv heard a few frost track so far as theyre not really big guns here in malaysia. so its kinda hard to get hold any of theyr material. but as for the few which iv managed 2 listen, i kinda like them a lot. but 13 years is a really long time n people tend to be rusty. but then again, it's long enough to gather good material for a record.

anyway i wont sa a thing yet until i've listened to it.

After some more listens, I can safely proclaim this album disappointment of the year so far. Unbelievably boring and flat, terrible songwriting (many a section had me wondering aloud "were they even trying...?"), repetitive to the core... this just won't cut it. Now, Diabolical comes damn close in terms of lameness, but it somehow appears mitigated by the inconsistency already displayed on Volcano.

Compared to this snoozefest, even a barely half-decent album like Reinkaos sounds like Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. And that's saying something indeed.

I'm suprised by how quickly people are writing this off, considering what a divisive band CF are. The more listens I give "Progeny", the more I like it. That guitar tone is fricking amazing! Maybe everyone should give it more time to sink in a little?

Personally I think the internet is responsible for shit like this being released. Fuck not internet and hardly anyone young knows his band and they don't try a stupid come back like this. Of course you should hear Into the Pandomonium and to Megatherion but is it worth us having to endure over the hill Grandpa's putting out this crap?

I decided to get this album because it received amazing reviews in the papers here in Norway. Well, i bought it and i think this album is awesome!

Thank god i didn't read these comments or the review before i got this album because i might not have bought it.

No, again i almost missed out on a great album due to a bad review.

Excuse me? How is it a bad review? Because you disagree with it?

I do think the same. Incredible heaviness and pure evil...Quite different from the old albums, but it's still CF :)

Bad Review? I found it very good and adjusted to what I think. But a review is a matter of taste and opinion. I don't agree with some scores, but that's because my taste and opinion is different from the reviewer's one.

In this case I agree with the reviewer. It's a good album, not the big dissapoint I really expect after hearing the horrible Ground, but not really outstanding.

In all cases, I think bad review is a superficial one, not a one that don't say what you think.

Well, it certainly isn't a great review. Some of the comparisons were pretty off (Winter Reqiuem would be hard pressed to sound LESS like Dimmu Borgir), and the typos and mis-titlings don't really help. Also, it'd be nice to get a review from someone who actually likes more than one side of CF. But it's not awful.

I thought the album was good, even if terribly dissapointing. Ground is my least favorite track.
