Hmm, it's always cool to hear of a new Gamma Ray album, but Land of the Free is my least favourite of the albums I have (Majestic, No World Order and Powerplant being the others).

Then again, if it's anything like Majestic it'll kick metal ass

Glad they decided not to make a pattern of that four years between albums bullshit.

GAMMA RAY GAMMA RAY GAMMA GAMMA GAMMA RAY! *Wets pants in anticipation*

Seriously, unless Nightwish or Lost Horizon finds a new vocalist soon, this will be my most anticipated release of 2007.

Blind Guardian will continue that one I'm sure.

Majestic is by far the GR i like the least. It was also marketed as "faster, heavier, more aggressive", does it not sound like some promotion for any film sequel? As we know, film sequels often suck, and so does this. It does indeed carry out its promises, but instead it lacks of good melodies and the vocals are unfortunately been left in the very background.

Lets hope they will carry out on the more melodical pattern as they did on LOTF

I listened to Majestic again just yesterday. I enjoyed it. "Fight" rocks aplenty.

I thought it was plenty melodic. It's heavy, fast, melodic, catchy... what are you on? It's up there with SOIS and Power Plant for me.

Majestic is the same recycled stuff with a little bit heavier edge. The vocals there were left all to faaar in the background. Listen to Kai on LOTF, there Kai sounds AWESOME! Fantastic use of choirs, which Majestic lacked of, only some occasional backing vocals by Dirk and Henjo. The songs on Majestic are very straight forward, while songs on LOFR are far more complex. One could believe this would be Gamma Ray's first effort and LOFR be a excellent example of how much the band has devoloped under the years... seeing that LOFR is from 1995 and Majestic from 2005 makes one scratch his head and wonder where the world is going...

I love Gamma Ray, but Kai's voice isn't all that great, never has been. He's got that weird...noise...that he makes and it drives me nuts sometimes.

I completely disagree. Who cares how complex it is. It has excellent guitar work, catchy choruses, and it is damn heavy (for a Gamma Ray album). Your statements make me scratch my head and wonder what the world is coming to.

Kai's voice rules btw.

Kai Hansen is the God of writing melodic metal and playing guitar, however, his voice is nothing more than mediocre! Gamma Ray could really need a powerful singer. Michael Kiske would do fine. What about the singer from BloodBound that just left the band, would he not be a great choice for Gamma Ray?

Kai is the voie of Gamma Ray. It would take some getting used to if they found a new singer. Although, Scheepers was and still is one of the best in the scene.

certain metal bands have a soul, and even if the soul isn't as clear or as technically proficient as you'd want it to be, take the soul away, and the whole thing goes kaput.
