I'm starting to buy a lot of Megadeth CDs recently because I've been feeling more and more that having like 3 albums and shitloads of mp3s isn't fair on me or the band. Basically, I bought So Far, So Good...So What! Today and after having not listened to the album for 1 year + it was almost like hearing it with no prior listening. I'm disapointed. Does anyone else have any views? I just feel like the album could have been so much better, when it's merely a collection of good ideas making merely good music if that didn't come out funny  The album actually bores me! Maybe it'll grow on my with more listens. Oh yeah, I hate the sound of LIAR with all those horrible vocals on the gang shouted bits. My favourite Megadeth song ATM is Wake Up Dead, it has everything I want; stupid lyrics, awesome riffs, awesome solos and that fucking mosh riff at the end is godly!

I'm doing my best for this 'musical discussion' stuff everyone's on about and with Megadeth being possibly the greatest band ever I thought this is a good place for me to start. Rather incoherently.

Many people share your view on so far so good so what, imo is a good album, it has some fillers (Anarchy in the Uk),but "In My Darkest Hour", "In to the lungs of hell", "Set the world afire" and "hook In Mouth" are killer tunes, so for me is a good album but not excellent.

I still haven't got KIMB...ABIG! Or heard all of the album...I was 45p short for it today, gutting. I really want it.

PS I just noticed all my Megadeth remasters have made up Vics face on the sleeves of my CD shelf, haha-cool.

I love Megadeth. So far..... is a good album. The album that bores me is (hold your breath) Peace Sells... maybe cos i've given it just 3 listens. Besides I got the remastered ones that has atleast half the albums tracks remixed versions in the second half, so can't get myself to listen to the entire album at a stretch. Just like Morbid Angel's Altars Of Madness. Excellent album, but has those stupid remixes. I dont see the point when those remixes are hardly any different from the original.

I also want but don't have that album because I'm too tight fisted to buy it. It's that and Cryptic are the ones missing.

Agreed. I love Megadeth so much it hurts sometimes, even the new stuff. Even some of Risk... I'd place SFSGSW! fairly low down in terms of quality though in comparison to their other works.

I love Megadeth, one of my fav metal bands of all time. But no a lot of people that I know personally agree with me...fags. But from KIMB...ABIG to CTE they were awesome, unstoppable. And I really like SFSGSW not my fav but still really good. CW is ok, but my least fav is Risk but has some ok tunes. I dont agree with TWNAH though, I like it and all but not as much as other people but oh well. And TSHF is also quite good some blah songs but really good. And I can not wait for the new one.

Ahh Megadeth. One of the first metal bands I really got in to *Begins to tear slightly* Ok enugh of that....

I love SFSGSW except for Anarchy in the U.K. and Liar has possibly the most horrible yet entertaining lyrics in any Megadeth song.

I've given SFSGSW some more listens and In my Darkest Hour is definantly my favourite song at the moment, it just seems to have more energy/emotion than the other songs-probably because Dave had a reason to write it other than money.

On this note, what's your favourite Megadeth album? (directed generally at anyone)

I'd probably go with Rust in Peace, although it's a tough choice. I think having Marty Friedman in the band meant that with all the classic riffs and cool song structures they had they could now make the endless soloing even more technical and interesting-Nick Menza is probably the best Megadeth drummer aswell I think-he knew how to make some interesting beats. I'm not sure if RIP has the best vocal performance, because Countdown to Extinction probably gets that but for a while now I've reckoned that nothing can top RIP.

To quote Dave himself, what the fuck is this?

Agreed again. Plus Marty is maybe the best guitar soloist in metal IMO.

I would also have to say RIP but PSBWB is also great. I remember when I first bought Peace Sells, I didnt like it. But I bought it on cd a little while ago and man it shreds.

So Far, So Good, So What? is such an incredibly underrated album. Mary Jane, In my Darkest Hour, Hook in Mouth, Liar; all great songs.

RIP is my favorite.
But I like them all, not including RISK (I've never heard it)

Megadeth is one of my favorite bands as well, but I still haven't heard everything they've done. I own KIMB...ABIG, TSHF, CW, CTE, and Capitol Punishment (My first Megadeth album). After I bought Capital Punishment I knew I needed to look deeper into their discography. I couldn't settle for just a greatest hits. And it's a good thing I didn't b/c I was missing out on some great muuuuusic.

Btw, I've heard RIP and PSBWB, I just don't own them. I need to order more music... and soon. I haven't purchased a cd in months. I feel dirty... and I just took a shower. My Megadeth collection will be complete one day.

These two are the absolute essentials.

As for So Far So Good So Etc, its a bit bleh. Its a little obvious that half the album is ideas left over from Peace Sells.

I mean, Into the Lungs of Hell is a very cool song, but I just feel like it could have been more if Mustaine hadn't been absolutely fucked out of his tree on drugs.

In My Darkest Hour and Set the World on Fire are great. Mary Jane and Anarchy in the USA (lolz) are good. Hook in Mouth and Three Random Numbers are completely middle of the road. Liar is pretty cool - love the rant.

That was my review, I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed come up with this hilarious conclusion.

Bye!

Rust in peace is a masterpiece... a real incredible album. But Peace sells and Countdown are really close in greatness. So Far is a little in the middle of the road between two masterpieces. Has great songs (In my darkest hour is one of the best megadeth songs) but is weak in the megadeth discography (in other bands discographies, it will be a great album).
