Yeah, coz johns got all the writing credits he gets all the cash. So Matt is probably making a lot more cash in his new job.

Now Playing - The Funeral - Iced Earth (DOP version)
Next - When The night falls - Iced Earth (DOP version)

I've never liked Iced Earth either. OK I enjoy Night of the Stormrider and TGB sometimes but I never liked anything with Barlow on it. Never understood what was so special.

I'm not a big fan of Demons & Wizards either although I like it better than IE. The songwriting is uninteresting, the riffing monotonous and mechanic. The slightly slower songs are good though, and Hansi does a good job as always.

That too. It's just boring music, IMO.

You guys are absolutely insane. You wouldn't know good Heavy Metal if it bit your ass. I see praise for Cellardoor, Strat, Hammerfal, Elvin freaking King, Avantasia and all of this garbage but you all don't like Iced freaking Earth? Jezz.

Praise for all those bands plus; Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Death, Necrophagist, King Diamond, Axxis, Dio, Mercyful Fate, Angel Dust, Agent Steel, Armored Saint, Coroner, Testament, Raven, Primal Fear, Wolf... I could go on forever. These are all bands I have taken part in discussing recently. Where the hell were you when I was talking about those? You read what you want to read. Yes, I don't like snoooozzze fest Iced Earth, get the fuck over it. But, I like a lot of the same shit you like, you just don't seem to notice.

It would be no fun if I noticed and agreed with you and acted Tolerant.....now would it?

God please no, Ripper, he can sing but he doesn't fucking "get it". He sucks and would ruin a fine album, fuck he almost single handedly ruined Iced Earth with his ott bullshit vocals. I am sorry, the dude has fucking talent but he is the square peg in the round hole.

Barlow kicks his fucking ass all over. You think Owens could ever fucking sing I died for you or Melancholy, please god no.......

I like Barlow better, but I do like Owens. I just think The Glorious Burden was bit weaker than their other albums. I really don't feel like that is Tim's fault. His vocals were excellent, but album production was thin, sonically weak, and some of the songs just lacked a hook. Still, TGB has some great tunes.

I only suggest they redo those three Something Wicked tracks for continuity purposes. I think it would be an excellent idea. As for Tim singing "I Died For You" or "Melancholy," I'm sure he'd do a great job, but his vocal style is so drastically different from Barlow's they'd sound like completely different songs. I can't really compare, dude.

Jon should have gotten the dude from Winterfell to replace Barlow anyway. :D

With Tim on vocals...

BURNING TIMES (Live Clip)

First time I've heard him sing another tune, sounds pretty good to me, dude.

EDIT: But goddamn, Barlow was fucking amazing! Listen to this scream:

He can do Owens, but Owens can't do Barlow. That's the real difference between the two.

That's one of the few live albums that I totally dig. It rules and I'd say it's essential for all IE fans, the 3CD version, of course. I wish they put that bitch on DVD, though.

One of my problems with The Glorious Burden was that Tim was clearly being told to imitate Barlow in places, and it just sounded silly.

I also agree with Kenny that the production was quite weak and thin, but I think the album is ok.

I had no problems with Tims vocals but i really dislike the album. The classic IE riffs disappeared. All the thrash that used to be there went replaced by boring monotonous riff that never seemed to get going. I didn't much care for the subject matter either. There was a few decent tracks on there, I remember Valley Forge being good. But every other IE album is far better, nothing to do with Tim though.

The Gettysburg Trilogy is fucking brilliant, if you ask me. You have to read the booklet along with the song to fully grasp what Jon went for (so you downloaders won't understand).

In between the lyrics, in the booklet, there is narration and reading those words along with the listening to the instrumental parts is just awesome. It puts all the images into your head, it's awesome.

I agree on that. I actually enjoyed TGB. The song (or the 3 if you call it that) really worked with the history he was trying to portray. I thought it all went together nicely - especially the start of the second day.

Course, some said it was patriotic crap... But then, if any artist released something about the US it would be considered that...

+1 , im not even American, and i found that piece to be really good, one of my favourite parts is when "Chamberlain" screams : On My Command Fix Bayonets!!!, that part is really cool.

Honestly i dont see whats so different about TGB and Something wicked, other than Tims vocals, if you liked something wicked you should like TGB, but on the other hand if you compare it with Night Of The Storm Rider (The BEST Iced Earth album) TGB does seems a little crappy, but so does Something wicked so i dont see whats the big problem.

I think TGB is a good album and the Trilogy is definitely the highlight. NotS is indeed the best IE album.

My favorite is a toss up between Something Wicked and Horror Show (a totally underrated album).

Yeah, Horror Show is a pretty awesome album. Really, you can't go wrong with Iced Earth. Burnt Offerings is also great.

The first album I heard was The Dark Saga, the first song was "I Died For You." That song rules!
