Radiohead - really cool, Thom Yorke is funny

Tool - Really... just huge feeling, even though Maynard was the only one moving. I can't wait to see them again =)

Strapping Young Lad - awesome, especially since I saw them in their hometown so like everyone went nuts.

Opeth - boring, I expected to feel something like when I saw Tool live but I got bored and ended up sitting with some goth girl while they played.

Unearth - Surprisingly good, their music sucks but they're fun live

i think that classical musicians should have more enthusiastic stage presence. they would appeal to a lot more young people if they would take like 5 minutes off during a concert just t show off their amazing chops. because when you go to a concert, the piano is always turned away from you, and you can't see a thing. that sucks.

I've always found it kind of cheesy when a classical player starts moving when they get into their music. For me I'm usually just overwhelmed by the sound of like 60 instruments all playing together, a feeling that would be impossible to even come close to with any recording.

i'm talking about like smaller concerts. solo recitals, piano sonatas... orchestras are great, but the only orchestras I get to see free here play wierd contemporary music that sucks. I wanna hear mozart betthoven and wagner, not some wierd guy from the last century...

The Secret Machines, who are a neo-psychedelic alt-indie rock band, possibly gave me the greatest live music experience in my life when I saw their set at a festival. They are an incredible band.

Also:
Gov't Mule
Matt Pond P.A.
Hot Buttered Rum
Mr. Blotto(all jam bands)

Metal-wise:Lamb Of God
Killswitch Engage-I saw them at Ozzfest last year, and after a song Adam Dutkiewitcsz suddenly went into ten-minute monologue of a raunchy date he had had with the crowds' mothers the previous night.

I would really like to see Coldplay live, but I have not had the opportunity.

Bands with good stage presence? Let me see:

- Iron Maiden
- Nine Inch Nails was pretty entertaining live a couple of years back, when they used to break everything and throw shit at the drummer...
- Rammstein are pretty damn fun to watch as well, i'm not just talking about the pyro. The way they act is pretty cool too.
- The 69 Eyes, their drummer is nuts behind the kit.
- Sevendust, their drummer is also nuts behind the kit.
- SYL, Devin is just funny.
- Cannibal Corpse are fun to watch. Especially if you're near the pit.
- Tool. They don't move much...but somehow their stage presence draws your attention. It's different.

Bands with bad stage presence? Let me see once again:

- Rush. Watching Neil Peart play drums is about as much fun as watching grass grow. He looks emotionless.
- Opeth, some headbanging here and there...but boring overall.
- Paradise Lost, i almost felt asleep.
- Evergrey
- Staind, probably the worst band i've ever seen live.
- Placebo

Can't think of anything else...

Ive only ever seen Nightwish. But they had great stage presence, especially Marco, drinking vodka constantly and smoking while playing, then offering the last of the vodka to the crowd, crackin jokes, etc... Tarja as well was great to watch, we would have done anything for her.. if only she asked... :(

I dont get anything here, to see nightwish I took a 22 hour trip on a train, I could also do an expensive 2 hour plane trip. Anyways, Montreal is the closest city to have metal bands play. The best Halifax has ever seen was: Slayer, Motorhead, Alice Cooper and we got the Rolling Stones coming next month. Over the course of my whole life, those are the only bands I know of worth going to see. I think we also got Suffocation once, but meh.

Sucks. The furthest I've ever travelled for an individual gig was a plane journey to London for Stratovarius and Hemmerfall. The UK does tend to get a raw deal when it comes to European tours (and Scotland, Wales and Northen Ireland get an even rawer deal than England), but nothing that bad. That plus the fact that 90% of bands that come to Scotland play Glasgow (45 minutes on the bus) means I feel pretty guilty about ever complaining.

So in summary, Old Scotland > Nu Scotland. :P

Haha, prick.

Yeah, it also doesnt help that the local metal scene here consists of all black and death metal bands, so Ive heard promoters say that there is no point trying to get some power metal or something. Though on the Maratime Metal boards I have heard rumors that people were trying to get Jag Panzer or Sonata Arctica, which would rock.

Angra - Edu was jumping all over the place I was up front and these guys were so loud I was deaf till the next morning. Also noticed alot more women at this concert compared to most that I have been to.

Dragonforce these guys really enjoy themselves before the concert they seemed more concered about how many beers they could get on there mix stands than anything else.

Totman was a total wreck when I saw them in June. It was painful how many times he fucked up.

Opeth's stage presence was quite poor the first time I saw them, but got steadily better and better until last November, when Mikael was looking like one of the most relaxed and occasionally funniest guys I've seen for ages.

The Gathering had great charisma when I saw them in a bar environment, but if you watch their arena shows on their DVD they look a bit lame.

Worst I ever saw was Katatonia. Seriosuly dull as ditchwater on stage.
