Does Stratovarius deserve this name in your mind? Let's talk about this band! I think they are quite awesome! 8)

Why so negative, boy? The kid's come here, full of hope and love for the Metal in his heart, and you smash all his dreams just like that.

Strato rule. Not sure I'd say they're TEH BEST though.

Not the kings, but they are one of my favorites. Neo-classical flower power metal at its finest. Welcome to the boards man.

They should have kept the fat chick who smeared blood all over herself. Timmo just doesn't know when he has a good thing going.

I'm not being negative, you shitfucking asslicker!!

As for Strato, I like them a lot, but their mid-paced songs are my favorites! Songs like Falling Into Fantasy (their best song), Alpha & Omega, Awaken The Giant and Dreamweaver. They have that stomp-feel like a lot of Dio songs have (Holy Diver). Those songs give me chills.

But their faster songs are also pretty badass, but I still only own Elements Pt. 1, Elements Pt. 2, Infinite, Intermission and Stratovarius (which I like). I've never even downloaded anything earlier than Infinite (yes, I know, I need the early shit, hehe).

Sonata Arctica>Stratovarius
Stradivarius>Stratovarius
SA just have more energy and enthusiasm in my opinion... and better solos...

That is just not true. Period. Maiden is the breathing definition of what Heavy Metal is, at least from 79 to 86. They are rock like new Ulver is country music or something.

You know these PM bands like Strat and SA (who I love) would be so much better if they knocked of the speedy crap and did mid paced songs, but hey I guess that is why I have trad Metal Bands to listen too. Their is no "power" in playing 1000mph with keyboard solos.

That said, I def think Sonata Arctica is the cream of the crop for that type of music. Reckoning Night just smokes except for a couple of crap songs.

Blind Guardian are the kings of PM. No possible debate over that.

exactly, and Bruces' vocals are like the definition of what power vocals sound like. But if we're gonna get into the power metal genre argument agian count me out.

that is because you all are kids and don't know what you are talking about. Helloween was and is the definition of euro speed metal. It just changed over time and got called power metal when it fact it isn't true Power Metal and neither are its decendants. Power Metal is US based epic, trad Heavy Metal along the lines of Warlord, Jag Panzer, Omen, Cirith Ungol, Manialla Road and others. We can debate this endlessly but the facts remain there is no "power" in playing fast songs with casterated vocalist, true power Metal is true Trad 80's American Metal and it's decendants in Europe, especially Germany. Blind Guardian DEF fits this descripton. Sonata Arctica, Start and others dont. period. eom.

And no I am not going to argue it. Iron Maiden is what "POWER" metal is all about. Shit. Hard riffs, excellant drums, driving base and a vocalist who pushes nd makes the songs......
