Post subject: New Music Download: Thrash Bands From Brazil
PostPosted: Thu Jul 20, 2006 2:38 am
Well, ever since I reviewed a few bands from Brazil (Assemblent, Scars, Moonspell, etc.) I've been shown the way. There are actually some awesome bands down there. Unfortunately not easily accessible to most of us. So here are some of those bands:

RECKONING

These tracks are from their debut EP (I think) called Weakness Sows Its Seeds. This is power thrash, like a mix of thrash and Iron Maiden. It's really cool. I'm looking to buy this.

MARTYR OF WAR
DISCIPLES OF FEAR
BURNING RAGE
AWAKEN

CHAOSFEAR

This is a fairly traditional-sounding thrash band, similar to Scars, but with a heavier vocalist. This is another band I'm working to acquire releases from. You can download their 2003 demo for free:

ABSOLUTE REJECTION
TIME
NONSENSE ATTITUDE
DEFYING THE FLOWING
HUMAN

They have a new EP coming out called One Step Behind Anger, you can listen to tracks for that album HERE or click the links below to save them to your PC (myspace downloads).

INCONGRUOUS POSSESSION
ONE STEP BEHIND ANGER
DRIVEN BY HATE
DENIED RIGHTS

HICSOS

A little groovier, a little hardcore mixed in with the thrash, old school NYC style. Fucking badass! I love those grooves! They've been around since 1990. Goddamn! These songs are from their Eatin' Concrete album from 2004.

THE FACE OF THE ABYSS
INSANE FUTURE

SYREN

Another Brazillian band that sounds awesome. They're not thrash, but while I'm here, fuck it. I guess at a stretch they could be called power thrash (at times), but heavy on the power metal and even melodic metal. I really want this band's album(s), but they just wanted to be MRs "friend" today, so I know very little about them, nothing more than what is on their myspace page. This singer also has a Bruce Dickinson sound to his vocals, like the guy from Reckoning. Great stuff!

If you are, start collecting them old school Brazillian metal, imo the best extreme metal scene ever. I'll drop some names if you need any ;)

Dead Embryonic Cells is the best Sep song ever therefore Arise is better. But really, Arise is better.

Was actually on Morbid Visions, yet appeared on Schizophrenia, beeyatch. Damn, that's not the point you're making...um...Dead Embryonic Cells is seriously so much better, it's intense and catchy, plus the simple mosh riff about 3/4 the way through is just headbanglebly great.

Exactly. I don't know, it's just cool. From what I've heard of Arise, the riffs are much simpler. Maybe it appeals more to an Anthrax fan  , and I like most of Sep's stuff, but Schizo is brilliant.

The actual riffs are simpler, but taking away the sheer volume of riffs on the earlier releases, the songwriting itself became more intricate. Arise just seems so much more a fun listen to me, what can I say.
