Sonata Arctica, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne (Randy>Zakk) and uh... hang on... cello solos by Apocalyptica don't count, huh?

I can think of 5 or so bands off the top of my head

DragonForce
Metallica (80's)
Cryonic Temple
Heavenly
Dream Evil/Firewind/Mystic Prophecy (any band Gus G is/was a part of)

How did I skip over this statement. Hibria = Astonishing while having sex with 15 milfs! Seriously, when these guys let any info out about a new album I will spray fart all over the place.

Lars Johansson of Candlemass is definitely worth a mention.

My personal favorite is *Suprise*,Nile.
However I always enjoy the following;
Capharnaum,Necrophagist,Behemoth,Vader,Decapitated(Day69 is phenomenal),Gorod(new cd next month!),Final Breath,Martyr,Atheist,Wintersun and Impaled.Like many I love far too many to list them all,but the more solos the merrier!(for me of course,to each there own).

Why haven;t I mentioned Syth yet? The recently departed guitarist played some of my favourite solos, no doubt.

nevermore is my fave (Loomis rocks)

Soilwork's A predators Portrait album had amazing solo action but they turned to shit right after that album.

Death of course

Recently Degree Absolute.

Also the Steve Vai solo in Triumph on the Synchestra album is real cool.

just a few bands:

-Symphony X
-Scar Symmetry
-Pantera (Dime was awsome)
-Ozzy (mostly No more tears)
-Freak Kitchen
-Van Halen (very wanky...but it still sounds great)

there are more...but don't want to keep going. Maybe I will add more later.
