Along time ago I only listed to Heavy metal and Death metal. One day I bought Cradle of Filths Cruelty and the Beast. It was and is to this day a very very good album. From that point on I became a Black Metal fiend, Buying and Downloading all the Black Metal I could get my hands on. Now I understand That Cradle of Filth is now known as a sell out band, and no longer known as black metal. But why all the hate? I know a lot of people that hate Cradle of Filth, but use to own their early Albums. Do you really hate Cradle of Filth or do you hate the poser kids that listen to them?

I like Damnation and a Day.

I have never liked Cradle of Filth and I think one time I called them Cradle of Shit. But I have never really listened to their music, I tried it once and it did nothing for me (as with most black metal) and to this day I enjoy some black metal but not a whole lot and I think I will never ever give Cradle of Filth a second chance.

Just my 2 cents, kinda.

Cradle of filth aren't black metal.

I don't hate them, I just don't like most of their music. But they can make good songs.

Cradle of Filth is not BM.
Cruelty & the Beast is an amazing album.

I get annoyed by the fact that there are so many people who will hate
a band without having heard them. As soon as a band reaches some
sort of popularity, a huge crowd will immediatly dismiss them for being
shite. Opeth is getting that kind of shit now a days, sad how narrowminded
metal fans are really.

Oh, and as for CoF, I own everything up to 'Cruelty...', and some mp3s
after that. Good stuff, far from Black Metal, but good none the less.

I am sure that was directed to me so I will respond to it: I don't like Cradle of Filth now because they are popular and I didn't like them back when they were not popular. And I said I have heard some and it did nothing for me.

That came out wrong, what I meant to say was: I don't like them now, not because they are popular just because I don't like their music or their singing and same with when they were not popular.

COF is Extreme Gothic Metal.

CoF is overproduced headache music.

Some of their stuff is ok, but I can't listen to all those layers upon layers of keyboards and screechy vocals for an extended period.

I have every reason to hate Cradle of Filth but I still like them. I love their earlier albums, I like their later ones. Even the last one was pretty good. All the commercial faggoth bullshit can be ignored if you can understand one fact, they're NOT a black metal band.

Cradle of Filth were never Black Metal from the start.

I like them a lot. Not their new stuff. But I still support them. For old times sake.

I just don't like them at all. At the beginning i used to listen to Dimmu Borgir and found them to be much superior than cradle of filth and still do.
I gotta admit though they make real creepy videos.

I thought Cradle sucked ass until i realised it wasnt serious at all. And yes their fans and the way they are presented by some of the media do annoy me. Its not that i hate them for any reason, i just dont like their music so i dont listen to it. Although they are easy to put shit on, for many reasons.

COF have some songs that I like, but I mostly find them annoying. There's not enough humor for me to like them. And the fans who wear CoF T-shirts and think they're heavy and serious and shit make me wanna retch

Def their early shit was some form of Black Metal. Songs like Queen of Winter Throned and Red Roses for the Devils whore own your ass.

Cruelty and the Beast is one of my fave albums of all time. In fact the first 3 full lenghts and the Vampyre EP are Mandatory for extreme Metal fans. fuck the Posers and the whiners, CoF is def an extreme Metal band.

Personaly I thought Midian was shit and DaaD was ok, but the last one was damn good, I like how they turned to more pure HM with fucked vocals and Nympethimine with Liv and that song English Fire own.

Great band. Who cares about their fucking image, they are def and always weill be an extreme Heavy Metal band.

And seriously kids, if you haven't heard Queen of Winter Throned of the EP, kill for it.

I like everything except Damnation and a Day. That one was just a little bit much, and every song being in the 5 minute range was dissapointing. The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, Vempire, Dusk and Her Embrace, all fantastic albums. It's a shame that so many are so quick to write off a band merely because some Hot Topic kids listen to them.

They are the suxxorz live, though. Really crap. And they played the single edit of the song Nymphetamine - who the shit plays a single edit live? (answer: Kamelot, twice)

i don't like CoF but i couldn't agree more on their live performance, i've seen them twice on a festival, gave them the benefit of doubt on both occassions and both times they sucked more than Paris Hilton next single! It's horrible to go through 5 songs of them on a cd, but live is like slowly putting hot needles in your eardrums.

I like Damnation And A Day, although I can't really take Dani's vocals for very long.
