As if I needed another reason to hate them... That's just too much to be a simple coincidence.

Pfffffft. It's similar but not enough to think that they're trying to rip them off. If anything it was probably an unconcious thing. I remember that the guitarist from my band accidentally "wrote" and iron maiden riff. It was all the same chords but in different octaves and he didn't do it on purpose.

Very vague at best. The drum intro is pretty standard, it's like the "Painkiller" intro, how many bands have something similar to that song?

I still think Trivium would be pretty badass if the singer cut this shit with the screaming, went to a mid-range tone and stopped trying to sing in the clean vocals for choruses. If he sang like he did on their cover of "Master Of Puppets" (like he does in the beginning of the chorus on this video) they'd be pretty damn good. As it stands his screams just ruin them.

he hits the 2 crashes at like the exact same time, then the opening riff is just a shitty version of CJQ!!!

They'd go up in my book if they killed themselves.

That was pretty vague, but you are right, trivium are fags.

This thread only needed the title line. The rest is irrelevant.

No, I admit his vocals on the cover are not bad at all, I'd rather they all grew their hair out and started playing thrash, and have a roadie with a flamethrower at shows to burn down fags and emos. Every m,etaller who turns up to their shows would be allowed, in turn, to either punch each band member in the face or have Matt Heaffy's mother sat in front of him whilst he watches every member of the crowd spit on her.

Not even American Metal. Trivium aren't Metal, plain and simple. I don't care how many "It's close to Metal" moments they have in their music.

Bodom Beach Terror is much, much closer to being an exact rip-off. When asked in an interview Laiho stated he had never heard the song (I think I might be mixing that up with when he said he had never heard of Carnal Forge when asked about the similiar album title of their last release with a release by Carnal Forge *shrug*).. It is a somewhat standard drum intro though and I think it's a very good chance that Trivium don't listen to Carcass... but you never know since the video was played a lot in Canada during the early to mid 90's and probably was in the US too.

Either way CJQ is still an awesome song with a no-frills classic Metal video.

Wouldn't matt heafy have been like 10 years old then?

I'd say its probably just chance. I mean there's only so many rhythms you can do in a metal song, and its not a spectacularily unique drum intro.

CJQ is a godly song, no wonder these fags are ripping them off. I listened to bodom beach terror and its a 90% match, what do they have in common with Trivium? They're fags too. See the similarities?

They're most definitely metal. What are you on? Musically they're very rooted in traditional metal and thrash. The vocals take them down the metalcore path. As for their look, whatever, this isn't 1986, folks. Take a look at most people here, do we all look like metalheads? Fuck no.
