What do you mean, everyone was influenced by Mozart and Beethoven. But even they were influenced by Pythagoras and his advent of the musical scale. And then even he was influenced by nature and its ratios. So I say the top two should be:
1. Pentacle
2. Golden Ratio

Who could do anything without these?

Just a shame they haven't released much in the past 25 years otherwise they be right up there.

@zad, yeah the beatles had a big hand in what indie is but i think the stones had a much more direct influence and should be there!

The only thing i can think of is Bon Jovi and his music made it "fun" to enjoy hard rock. He kinda bridged the gap between hair metal and rock, so that i wasnt just metalheads that liked the music, but everybody, including women.
Bon Jovi's influence on other bands and artists after his glory days is fairly big and influenced hair metal bands around at the time, to include the "rock" genre into their hair metal genre, like bringing it down a tad, more radio friendly.
Kinda like the two sides of Motley Crue and Def Leppard. Towards the mid eighties they both had rock/radio friendly elements in their hair metal music.

Or maybe his influence was getting women into the genre, which originally was started by Van Halen and Def Leppard

I suppose thats true, but are they really worthy of being in this list???

I think that depends on who is making the list, their personal opinions. I think Bon Jovi does deserve to make the list, after all hair metal/rock did change once he got on to the scene, sort of blended them both together and it stayed that way for a long time.

I say on the list, but from 17-25

Shouldn't Van Halen be on there instead, then?

Thats what i've been saying the whole time, Van Halen SHOULD be on this list, especially if Def Leppard and Bon Jovi are on it. And i also think Alice Cooper should be on this list....possibly Kiss as well.

But i find it an insult not to include Van Halen
