Don't trust him. He's flat out wrong. Even his description is way off. Are you sure you're not describing X? Because you did. Slang is nothing like that.

X and Slang are their worst albums.Their best stuff is from OTTN-Pyromania with Hysteria and Adrenalize being good pop metal.

Slang is excellent.

Sorry to disagree with you Eyesore but Slang just isn't very good.They went in a direction that didn't sound good at all.No I didn't expect them to continue with thier pop metal sound like their 2 previous albums prior to this one but they produced an album that didn't have much substance at all.

I wished they went back to their NWOBHM influences on this album that would have been a treat but instead we get this stale lifeless album.

You can dislike it. That's cool. I just think that even though it seems under-produced for a DL album (read: normal production for most bands), the songs were still damn good. Sure, no big, soaring choruses like all their other albums, but there were still some damn good hooks, especially on songs like Truth?, Turns To Dust, Slang, Deliver Me and Blood Runs Cold. Pearl Of Euphoria is excellent, too, VERY different for Def Leppard, it's a lot like Queensryche's Promised Land from their Promised Land album. Very dark, brooding and different.

I don't know, if you love Def Leppard for their signature sound Slang will likely not be something you'd like, but I think it's a great album. I don't like Gift of Flesh much, though. Sounds like they were trying to do a heavier version of something Stone Temple Pilots would do and it just didn't work. Not a bad song, I just don't like it much.

I have Slang and that's what it sounds like to me. It flat out sucks, and Vivian Campell is a fuckin wuss who should stop sullying up this band with his "I don't like heavy Rock, let's play fluffer music shit" They totally abandoned any sembleance of their old sound. It was a no substance snoozefest.

Hell, my girlfriend said it was wuss shit. End of argument.

I like Slang... it the best thing they produced after Hysteria was released. and I don't think they really changed their sound... they just went with what their hearts told them to do... a very nice album no matter what your girlfriend thinks !

You said it was "pop music" and the "guitarwork is simplistic nonsense" and that "every song has a cute little Hillary Duff type sing along chorus." And then you said it's "not even anywhere near the spectrum of Rock." First off, it is most definitely a rock album and not anywhere near a pop album, Adrenalize was far more pop than Slang. Second, the guitar is not simplistic at all and third, every song does not have a sing-along chorus, that is exactly what this album lacks compared to every other DL album. There were good hooks, but very subtle on this one, nothing is overly catchy. I'm really not sure what you're hearing when you listen to this one.

It's true Breathe a Sigh has that Boyz II Men feeling...but that's it. The rest of it is pretty good.The sound is very GOOD, so is the songwriting....ok, this is no Holy Diver, but if i'd have to listen only to Holy Diver all the time, i'd end up hating heavy metal in less than one week.
