I saw this a few weeks back as part of "metal" month and I must say I was surprised with some of the picks.

Breaking the Law Judas Priest
#40
I'm Eighteen Alice Cooper
#39
Balls to the Wall Accept
#38
Smoke on the Water Deep Purple
#37
Wait and Bleed Slipknot
#36
Metal Health Quiet Riot
#35
Paranoid Black Sabbath
#34
High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night) Def Leppard
#33
Thunder Kiss '65 White Zombie
#32
Rock You Like a Hurricane Scorpions
#31
Epic Faith No More
#30
Caught in a Mosh Anthrax
#29
The Beautiful People Marilyn Manson
#28
Run to the Hills Iron Maiden
#27
Refuse/Resist Sepultura
#26
Cowboys From Hell Pantera
#25
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap AC/DC
#24
Freak on a Leash Korn
#23
Enter Sandman Metallica
#22
Paradise City Guns N' Roses
#21
I Wanna Rock Twisted Sister
#20
Man in the Box Alice in Chains
#19
Slave to the Grind Skid Row
#18

#17
Walk Pantera
#16
Bulls on Parade Rage Against the Machine
#15
Toxicity System of a Down
#14
Rainbow in the Dark Dio
#13
Bring the Noise Anthrax
#12
Peace Sells Megadeth
#11
Ace of Spades Mot๖rhead
#10
Crazy Train Ozzy Osbourne
#9
Raining Blood Slayer
#8
The Number of the Beast Iron Maiden
#7
Detroit Rock City Kiss
#6
You've Got Another Thing Comin' Judas Priest
#5
Back in Black AC/DC
#4
Master of Puppets Metallica
#3
Welcome to the Jungle Guns N' Roses
#2
Iron Man Black Sabbath

Well well, I must say i agree with black sabbath being number 1 as they paved the way for everything. Yet is guns and roses, korn and system of a down metal? I dont think so. I see the influences there from metal but those songs arent "metal". Rage against the machine being my favorite band of all time, I wont say they dont belong there. Also slipknot shouldnt be there because they are too recent of a band to have a "best metal song of all time" and "wait and bleed" is not even their best song, "surfacing" is.

What do u guys think about this list?

Half of those aren't even metal songs (Alice Cooper? Kiss?). Nonetheless, there were some good picks. Refuse/Resist, Master of Puppets, etc. Although it seems like System of a Down and Slipknot were thrown into that list more for mainstream appeal than anything else.

I can't stand Iron Man and Run To The Hills is one of the most overrated songs ever. C'mon, Maiden have better songs than that. I'd pick Battery over Master Of Puppets any day. And wait a minute. Breaking The Law chosen over Painkiller? Blashphemy ! Agree that some of the tracks would classify more as hard rock than metal. But guess it depends from person to person.

Stupid list from a stupid channel. You're best off ignoring any attempt by mainstream media to talk about Metal.

Raining Blood should be a bit higher on the list, really.

yeah this list is more than a little ridiculous.

vh1 makes some fairly interestign shows but whenever they make a countdown like this it angers me. The segments on each song or thing are decent but the list as a whole is shit

This list is just the most popular or well known songs by each band. Children of the Grave, ELectric funeral, War Pigs (and im sure more i havent got around to yet) are better Sabbath songs than Iron Man. And Maiden? Ace of Spades, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, hildren of the Damned, The Trooper, Die With your Boots On, Flight of Icarus, The Evil that Men Do all pwn Number of the Best and Run to the Hills.

I sat down and watched this with my cousin (who ironically listens to gangsta rap), and during the entire show I kept telling him how wrong VH1 was. When I saw Refuse/Resist I did say "Oh, well, that's ok, I might agree with that one." Then I just continued bitching.
