I love the solos in any King Diamond and Mercyful Fate albums. The solos are one reason why I listen to their albums. Another band whose solos I enjoy a lot is Morbid Angel. I wont be surprised if someone mentions DragonForce here. Haven't listened to much DragonForce though. Yes, there are other bands whose leads are very appealing, but the above mentioned bands just seem to stand out from the rest.

Nevermore, Megadeth, Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius.

First one to say Slayer gets a face-stabbing.

I don't like solos that much, but I do like Megadeth.

Decapitated, Megadeth, Children of Bodom spring to mind as bands that have great lead parts.

For me its any band that manages to fit a solo into a song for a reason other than "metal songs need awesome guitar solos". The songs I can think of off the top of my head are Fredrik Thordendal's solo album, Meshuggah's "I", Zero Hour's "Demise and Vestige" or Devin Townsend's "Deep Peace". I also enjoy Nevermore's solos just because Jeff Loomis varies where they are in the songs, rather than just always having them lumped up after the second chorus, and he has a lot of variety in his solos.

Megadeth and Pantera. Kreator get one for the 'so shitty it's good' award.

Kreators riffs make up for the shitty solos though.

Definately Agalloch's.

Windir, Megadeth, The Beatles, The Cars, and Rush also come to mind.

Metallica! i LOVE the solos on the old albums...

Arch Enemy and Children of Bodom also have killer solos.

Iron Maiden have some nice "crowd sings ooh ohhhhhhhhhh etc etc" solos, which you simply have to love.

Tipton/Downing (Thats Judas Priest, kids) have produced some of the best solos ever. Ram it Down, Painkiller, The Sentinal, Freewheel Burning, Screaming For Vengeance, Stained Class, One Shot at Glory... Phenomenal stuff in every regard.

The Mustaine/Fridman combination was also quite awesome. Lee Altus (Heathen) has also had some great solos, and Kristen Larsen of Manticora also does it incredibly.

You emo fag!

By the way, I don't have a favorite solo...er, but "Return To Serenity" by Testament contains my all-time favorite solo (I think I've mentioned that about 10 times on this board).
