Thanks Man, I am not true or elite, but I do like what I like and besides the stuff I like that I know is gay, I can at least admit it.

What is wrong with being narrow minded and opinioted about Metal anyways? Is what it is all about and it is fun to argue and talk shit. At least to me.

I honestely don't care if you like Startavarious and others, hell I defened them and called them true HM to Holy Terror, you just better be able to admit that they aren't really Power Metal and not really what the genre is all about and it it diluets what is really true Power Metal. Anyways, I don't care, but you all are noobs...lol

Leee, to be elitist is another word to be very passionate. There's nothing wrong in protecting what you believe in. If metal was ever decided by popular opinion, we'll all be calling Slipknot death metal or some equally lame shit anyway.

See, here is why you are getting so many negative comments. You think you are right with everything and everyone else's views are wrong. All it is, is difference of OPINION.
I like Stratovarius and you dont. Its our opinions...but dont say we are wrong about liking things you dont...the world doesnt revolve around you and your views on metal.

Respect other people's opinions, instead of thinking your better than the rest of us, saying we are wrong all the time, and maybe you'll start receiving respect for your opinions

Before all that, have you listened to the bands that Lee mentioned ? If you do then you would understand at least where he's coming from. He's talking about what represents power metal best, and it's obviously not Stratovarius........

and dont rely on wikipedia to tell you what metal is... it's all formed by popular opinion, even the NWOBHM is ignored in its own heavy metal history.

Thats not the point. I can handle his opinions on what he think power metal is, thats fine. But Leeee wont accept anyone else's opinions on the same topic...its like "I'm right, your wrong, end of story". Having that attitude doesnt go down well in here. Sure we argue about things, we sometimes dont see eye to eye, but we respect and accept each others opinions. cos thats what they are.

To me his points are definately right, US power metal existed long before the Helloween sound anyway. Right from Cirith Ungol's first album i would consider that power metal. He's just stressing about what real power metal is, and most of you cant accept that. Still your opinions are your own, the metal world would be a boring place if everyone had the same opinions anyway.

Of course, if you were to post at a board that is majority 80's metal appreciation, you would be gunned down at the spot with valid reasoning. It wont be only Lee standing up for it.

You can call me names all you want, is cool. If you don't have strong opinion on something, that is fine too, I do. I will stand up and tell you that Power Metal is of US origin and that is what it should be, the German bands that play that style now and the rest of the Europe got it from US style Heavy Trad Metal. That speed Metal Helloween style is not true Power Metal no matter what anyone calls it.

BTW I disagree on Iced Earth who I think are awesome except for their last album with Ripper which is pretty lame.

Dude, I am VERY passionate about music, too, and that has gotten me into some heated arguments/debates/flame wars/what-have-you on this board, so you will more than likely not avoid that completely. What you could do is try and take a less defensive stand and quit with all the stupid insults in the guise of "it's metal!!" That makes little sense. I have a lot of friends into metal and we discuss music all the time and often disagree, but never do we insult each other in the way you have. Try and calm down a bit.

That goes for everyone else, too. It's not metal, it's a messageboard.
