Post subject: PEARL JAM : FAVORITE ALBUM POLL
PostPosted: Sun May 14, 2006 5:15 am
just a poll...
I'm in the process of listening to all the PJ albums again.. so far I've had No Code & Yield first (as they're my fav') then Ten & Vs and I was wondering what was this community's opinion on which Pearl Jam album is their finest. As I said in the thread about their new album, my preference goes to No Code but Yield is pretty close... 8)

NP
Pearl Jam "Vitalogy"
(which is much better than I reminded)

Call me crazy, but Lost Dogs is my favorite. Some of their greatest songs are their b-sides!

Vs., I guess, but it's a hard question to answer. Lost Dogs is a studio album, by the way.

it isn't... I never considered compilations (even if most material is b'sides, rare tracks etc...) to be sutdio albums. Lost Dogs is great but it's not an album 8)

If it's not live, it's a studio album...unless they recorded it in the woods.

ok dumbass
what I mean by a studio album is songs recorded in order to make an album, is it one or several sessions... preferably those sessions will be close to each other and none of the material included in the final cd will have been previously available as b'side or bonus track etc...
Clearly, "Lost Dogs" doesn't fit that all :|

I've only listened to them up to No Code, but I'd have to say Ten, although each one is pretty damn awesome.

I haven't heard them all, but I voted No Code anyway.

This thread just reminded me that I do actually own Riot Act... I picked it up for £1.97 at Music Zone, and then completely forgot it existed

Music Zone is great. Awful selection metalwise, but what they do have (ie mainstream rock stuff like PJ) is invariably cheaper than you would find it elsewhere.

Except Tescos apparently :?

Never found any PJ there. Just Heretic, which is a tad crap.

A tie between the first two, though the rest of their catalogue is no slouch either.

I think the poll is a good indication of the two sides of Pearl Jam. Their first 3 or so albums were good, and then the've had a massive slide since. Ten is their best, followed by Vs. The rest, apart from a few good songs scattered about, sucks balls
