New Dissection is upon us. I listened to it twice, and I definitely like it, though probably most purists won't. It's more melodic than ever before, but still retains that unique Dissection vibe. My only fear is that is seems almost too catchy, and I know catchy doesn't last long. I hope it won't be the case with Reinkaos.

Here's the video for Starless Aeon

I haven't heard it all yet, but parts that I heard at my guitarrist the other day was really bad.

I don't mind the rocky/in-flames:ish music, and I'm not that hardcore about Dissection that I can't handle them changing style. My problem lies in the fact that the songs really really blew goats.

That's not even catchy. It bored me to death. That song is about 1,5 minutes too long for its own good.

Well, that sucked. It has no identity whatsoever. It just sounds like the other 20 gajillion bands playing this shit. The Somberlain it is not. The new Dark Funeral is better than this crap.

Ugh. There were two songs that weren't bad in my opinion. Beyond the Horizon and Internal Fire. The rest just sonded like the most boring of Gothenburg.

Jon Nonceveldt looks like Ed Norton in that video. Which is the best thing I can say about it, recent In Flames is way better than this!

Weak.

Some riffs are nice, but the lack of speed, the all too predictable song structures (seriously, while listening to Black Dragon for the first time I could tell where the song would go next, and I was right) and the very sterile production really hold it down. It sounds painfully constrained, like they're scared to get too heavy or fast or inspired. Whatever.

Worse than new Satyricon, these bands should just retire so they will be remembered in a good way at least.

If I were to construct a machine, a machine that fed on the broken hearts and hopes of men and distilled them into music... that machine would vomit out copy after copy of Reinkaos.

At least their early releases qualify as listenable.
