Bands limit their stuff and choose not to play live with the purpose of remaining underground?

Many bands limit their releases just because there's no point in pressing a million records if only 500 will be sold, not to achieve some sort of stupid kvlt-status among kvlt-kiddies.

And concerning live playing, what about the aforementioned Darkthrone? They quit playing live, the main reason being that they simply don't enjoy live playing, and didn't see a point in playing live.

Well, a lot of bands do that stuff, but obviously they're not the only things that bands do to stay underground. I agree with you, it is a bit retarded, and it's becoming a trend and that's retarded indeed.



Well you're right, there's no point in releasing a million copies for bm bands, but I know some bands do it on purpose to remain klvt and underground like that, I've heard bands who release 50 copies, and that's stupid because it would sell a lot more, they are just trying to remain kvlt. I was wrong when I said most bands do it, but a lot of bands and especially newcomer bands seem to do this a lot.

On the other hand, some bands limit their stuff because they want the people who really want it to have it only, and that's respectable imo, they usually release more copies according to the demand later on.

Darkthrone did it for different reasons like you said, surely, it's just another of those "we don't give a fuck" acts they're famous for.

Jurgen speaks the truth . Kathaarian it seems you have some misconceptions about what underground is...

Underground can simply mean unsigned bands, or bands signed to independent labels. Bands can be locally known in their own scenes, but not necessarily known to the rest of the world easily.

There's a reason why many underground metal (not only BM mind you) has limited print. Small independent labels are always struggling financially. They cant afford to print many copies, especially when they arent receiving enough support. Normally after an initial batch is fully sold, they would print another batch if there's enough demand. Downloaders who never contribute a cent are only killing the underground scene in the long run by not giving them the support they deserve.

Bands are not underground just because they have 'kvlt raw' production. Bands usually receive little or zero money support at all for their recording expenses, thus the low budget sound. It's very possible nowadays to have a decent sound... with recent technology and all, but nothing beats good analog production!

No live shows also does not determine whether band is underground or not. Usually the no live shows thing refers to lame kvlt norsecore bands anyway, it doesnt represent whole underground METAL scene at all. The entire kvlt grim tr00 trend has been going for many years and on already. This is nothing to do with Darkthrone btw, because Darkthrone rules, and they are NOT underground.

Some bands limit their stuff because they have no money, some bands limit their stuff because they don't want everyone to have it so they can stay underground. And obviously I am talking about the latter, so your post is completely pointless if it is an answer to mine.

I may have misconceptions but you obviosuly have downright ignorance about the issue when it comes to black metal. Some black metal bands choose to have raw production, a week in the studio is something everyone can afford but they choose not do do that to keep it raw, so it isn't the because of the lack of money.

What you say might be the case for others, but not black metal, so shut up if you don't know.



Well, I was talking about kvlt bm bands, so you don't have to say it doesn't represent the whole metal scene, if I thought it was I would say so.
