It seems that the more I listen to stuff the more I think that 2006 will be a great year for death metal. I mean you have stuff like the new Pitbulls in the Nursery, Yyrkoon, Decapitated, Kataklysm, and Dismember. Not only that but theres still the new Spawn of Possession, Blotted Science, Arsis, Scarve, and Canopy to look forward to. Last year had a ton of great prog metal, but I think 2006 will be the year for technical/death metal releases

:D

For me, Canopy will likely be the best death metal album of 2006 because it'll probably be the only one I buy. It wins by default.

Dude, you should check out Arsis. I have a feeling you would like them.

And yes. Canopy will indeed kick ass. As wells as some of the others noodles mentioned.

The new Cannibal Corpse is the best thing I've heard in ages. :Becoming slightly obsessed:

Arsis is melodic death metal, though, right? I love melodic death metal, is that included here? If so, then, fuck Canopy!

Bitchin! I hope Anata keep getting better and better!

Arsis are melodic death metal, but far from the panseyish style that most meloeath bands are playing these days.

Interesting, does anyone have any idea when the new Arsis cd will come out?My guess would be late this year but obviously I hope sooner.I don't know why though, but I feel like it has already passed for me,the whole year of death metal.Maybe its because I went hog wild during '05,and loved it.Also could be because I only like a few bands that are releasing stuff.Arsis,Anata,Decapitated(though I still am waiting for my cd to arrive)are all that come to mind.

The bands I am waiting for to release new stuff is Necrophagist,Nile,Capharnaum,Martyr(oh yeah that is this year I believe!),Behemoth,Vader,Lykathea(Elvenefris is stellar!),Electro Quarterstaff,Sinners Bleed, and probably many more if I could remember them all.It looks like I will be waiting for some time.Still though,I hope everyone enjoys there bands!

Suffocation, Malignancy, Deicide, Zyklon, Vader, Torture Killer, Misery Index, Decapitated, Massacre, Dismember, Krisiun, Gorefest, Psyopus, Sinister, Yyrkoon, Aeternus, Psycroptic, Wormed, Gorguts, Malevolent Creation, Martyr, Belphegor, Vital Remains, Amoral, Autopsy, Benighted, Gory Blister, Benedition, Cenotaph, Drawn And Quartered, Fleshmould, Necrophobic, God Among Insects, Haemorrhage, Kataklysm, Enforsaken, Illdisposed, Lividity, Cannibal Corpse.

These are the most important bands (maybe I missed one or two) that put out albums this year, or are about to do it. I'd say that in the end it will be a very good year for death metal.

And of course, after all this bands will give their best shot, out will come Behemoth's Demonica to blow it all away

Why would you think that a best off/compilation album of Behemoth will blow away new albums by other bands?

Dismember is putting out a new album. That makes 2006 the year for Death Metal by default.

That's the one. I just didn't know it was out yet. We get stuff a little slower over here.
