I found the new track a bit dull to be honest, not nearly as good as their earlier work

Interestingly enough, I've never seriously listened to PJ before. I know they're supposed to be the softest of the "Big-Four Grunge Acts" although their popularity is every bit as great as Nirvana's was. May be I'll check this album out.

Pearl Jam are lame. I've never heard anything by them, but I know they're lame.

Dude, I like you, but in this thread, you suck. That's the dumbest statement I've ever heard, well, not the dumbest, but it's pretty dumb. You know it, too.

With that said, Pearl Jam have had over thirty singles hit the charts in the US and only four of those were from Ten, their supposed "best" album, and none of those four are their most successful in terms of performance on the mainstream rock charts. That says tons.

Pearl Jam have evolved, they're almost a straight-up 70's rock band now, no synths, no psychadelia, just plain rock music. Considering they started out in the grunge field, though always a little different from the rest, and they're still out there topping the charts, that says a lot of this band. Like them or not, you can't deny that they're the real deal and this new album is excellent.

anything called grunge that isn't Soundgarden (whom I don't like either) in my opinion suck. If PJ are a rock band now, then they don't suck. :D

I saw the new album today, but didn't have enough money for it, so I bought something else. How exciting my life is.

The same here, although I also find it to be more bank account-draining than a gold digging frat girl. :(

hahahaha!!! yes whenever I have pockets full of money I have to really watch out so I don't spend it all on cds. Of course, my city has almost no good stuff at all, so i'm not likely to become poor that way...

I do find it exciting up to a point, but usually more worrying, like am I making the right choice? Can I afford to pay this much? Will the damn thing even work?

It is addictive, though. And listening to a new album I do find exciting.

Well, you've got to find alternative ways to purchase them. Sure you can download, but that's not really the same. Is the Aina CD as good downloaded as it is with the deluxe hardcover book with the two bonus CDs with video, animated movie, and the fat booklet with the story and killer artwork? Hardly.

So if you want to buy the albums you have to find the perfect used store. I know in the UK used is generally not cheap, but I found bargains over there, especially in London. Take a trip occasionally. Also, though eBay is turning into an online store rather than an auction site, you can still find good deals, but, of course, the UK sellers are fucking ridiculous in their prices!! Fucking 9 POUNDS to ship a CD to the US? Fuck you ASSHOLE, I lived in the UK for 3 years, that's 2 pounds, 3 MAX. Sleazy bitch. Anyway...don't buy new.

yeah, I have about 5 ggod used shops I regularily go too... and also one that does new and used and has a lot of good promos like the Rush remaster at 6 euros ! 8)

but, there are some albums I don't feel the need to buy even if I liked what I downloaded because I know I'm not going to listen to it a lot... so I sometimes stick with MP3s...

NP
Eugene Chadbourne & John Zorn "1977-1981"
(strange strange strange music... not sure if I like it other than for the obvious influence it had on Mike Patton...)

I keep my eyes open, and rarely pay more than £8 for an album. You're right, prices over here are ridiculous, but what can I do but pay them? I'll get around to eBay eventually...

I do not mean to sound negative but I am praying for the day when this band finally rolls over and dies. Over hyped garbage.

why do people feel the need to come to a thread and destroy a band (they obviously despise) while not discussing the topic at hand is beyond me... I'm sure you haven't even listened to this new PJ...

and actually, 2 spins yet, it's not bad but I have yet to hear a bad album from PJ... 8) but, all in all, this isn't as brilliant as No Code or Yield were...

NP
Peter Hammill (with Stuart Gordon) "Veracious"

I find it hilarious how some of us are always at odds, I find No Code and Yield to be where Pearl Jam kind of lost their way. Hahahaha.

'I don't mean to sound negative, but I'm going to walk into a thread about a band I don't like and shit all over them without explanation. Dig it?'
