True Bruce Dickinson wore polka dot spandex. I realize that Iron Maiden did the image thing quite a bit, thats why when I see Bruce Dickinson running around I have to laugh to myself, I can't do that with Paul Di'anno, because to me he represents the more honest side of Iron Maiden.

And I also realize that Tobias Sammet worships Bruce Dickinson and in some way is trying to emulate him (though the cowboy hat and zebra pants remind me more of Brett Michaels of Poison). But like I said, Ive played with bands like Edguy before (Goat Horn), and they are really into their image and put on this big act. Edguy does the same thing, so did Maiden back in the day. The only difference is that Maiden were pioneers and had the music to back up all of the image crap. Edguy do not. Their music is watered down, and frankly getting a little too poppy for them to claim that this whole facade they're putting on doesnt have motives other than rocking out. Thats where my problem with them originates from. If they were a good band then maybe I'd be albe to forgive all of the goofy shit they do. Hell I did it for Helloween and Maiden, but they wrote good music, Edguy does not.

SO you can talk about how you saw old thrash metal bands back in the day....which frankly does little to convince me that you know what you're talking about. There are guys on the Tales from the Pitt board that are good friends with Dark Angel and Exodus, but even they say some shit that makes me question their tastes. You also have to consider the fact that I come from a scene where only the old classics are revered. And they are looked upon with the scrutiny of....lets say a black metal fan listening to the one or two power metal albums he likes, there's a lot of criteria to meet, and this usually comes from listening to a shit load of music. After that much metallic scholarship you learn to recognize the bland shit that really does little in the way of metal. So yeah you can cry "elitist" all you want, I wont deny it.

I'm not trying to say your points arent valid, but I guess before you go claiming ownage you should know the full story, or at least enough for you to maybe rethink your stance.

EDGUY ROCKS!!

They are easily in the top 5 best power metal bands going round at the moment. How can the way the band acts on and off the stage bother you so much, its amazing. They are jokers, always have been, always will. Their having the time of their lives, and no one is gonna tell them how to act.

Its good to see this type of humourous entertainment in the metal scene. And there are plenty of other bands playing their type of metal. Who gives a shit about whether it sounds happy...its all metal in the end. If it sounds good to someone, good for them. There is another band out there which play even more happy than Edguy....MetalNESS is a fan of this band as mentioned in previous posts, as am I: POWER QUEST. They are absolutely keyboard happy, but they still sound good, and its still metal

Terror, I never claimed pwnage. Other people made that statement. You obviously can't take it when people say that to you, so you have to go back and dig things up again.

And whether or not Edguy's music is good is a matter of personal opinion. I've been a musician for over 20 years, and I find nothing wrong with their music. It's not excessively technical, but that's not the point. Their music is catchy to me, and "catchy" is an intangible some of the most proficiant musicians in the world often fail to achieve. Even the best classical music is catchy by its own standards.

"Poppy" is also a term that means different things to different people, so i'm not going to get into that debate.

You said that people you know who personally know this band and that band say things that get to you. Maybe you have to point that finger at yourself. Usually, when it's everyone else who seems to have problems, the person with that perception is actually the one who needs help The odds are better that one person is wrong than a hundred.

You know man, you are wrong. Heavy Metal stands for what the hell I like and what I like to listen too. Not some credo set by others. Shit, Metal has ALWAYS had homos jumping around in designer clothes etc. ALWAYS. Maiden is some of the worst and always has been. Priest in freaking Homo bondage gear? Sabbath dressed as hippies? You seen pictures of Destruction from the 80's with their hair and high tops? Come on man......lighten up, Metal at the base of it all should be fun and something to get us away from reality for awhile and envoke different moods. How can you have fun with the music if you take it so serious and tell people to fuck off if they like Edguy? That is just gay, especially since Edguy is a VERY Heavy Metal band and displays the attitude of one, at least for the style they play, yeah yeah, it isn't your dirty, puking in the gutter living in a shack eating pizza crusts while you write your opus in the basement, but fuck, Heavy Metal is more then just one style. As for Edguy, I dig them, at least the old shit but they lost me with Hellfire Club somewhere but I can dig what they do and hey, I hope the make a million dollars.

Edguy is Heavy Metal and Edguy does represent what HM is about, wether you like it or not. Seriously though dude does it really upset you this much that people like Edguy? I mean honestely is it worth a nervous breakdown? People will always dig commerical Heavy Metal and that is just a fact.

I've been posting on these forums for two years now and I can predict every post you make. If you're such a good reader than you'd know that I like some European power metal, and that only certain bands qualify as gay. Hell I like Aria, ADX, Labyrinth, Steel Attack, Falconer, Nocturnal Rites, Gamma Ray...etc, but its mainly the commercial aspect I don't like and it is reflected to some degree in the music
