So, my girlfriend and I are talking about getting married in the near future, and it got me thinking about what will be playing at the reception. I'm not going to have some lame chicken dance, hokey poky or even modern mainstream songs playing. I want music that will be appealing to most people attending the reception, but at the same time not be lame rap or hip hop. It also has to be music people can dance to (slow or fast). All genres are welcome, but it has to be music we both enjoy or agree on. She hates most metal and we both hate rap. Anyway, I need suggestions.

Here are some bands (songs) I thought would work;

Yes - Heart of the Sunrise (we both love this band and regardless of the progression we are playing this song)
Rush - Time Stands Still, Limelight
Boston
Devin Townsend - A couple tracks from Accelerated Evolution (she surprisingly likes him)
Journey
Michael Jackson (limited to a couple of songs)
Percy Sledge - When a Man Loves a Woman
Simon and Garfunkel
Bob Dylan
James Taylor
Black Eyed Peas (this is one of her favorites and she says its not rap)

Let me know what you guys think and give me some suggestions. I know there is a crap load more I could add to that list, I just can’t think of any right now.

Sodom - Incest.. Number 1 wedding song IMO

On a serious note.

Sodom - Incest, seriously, play it.

On a serious, serious note. I've also thought of something the same before, that I dont want no lame ass music (most of my family enjoy country, except my mom, who likes what I do). But I wanted stuff that was acceptable as well.

Some I thought of: Rush, Nightwish (ballads), Lana Lane - Let Heaven In (my gf wanted this one), Savatage (ballads mostly).. Actually I only really thought of slower songs.. Maybe some Dragonforce - Through The Fire And Flames and actually some orchestra songs from a soundtrack could work, I suggest, Noriyuki Iwadare - Romance At A Windy Isle and Delightful Adventure or something.. I dunno, dont ask me!

Just play te Silent Hill 3 OST and turn the lights out, how that would be good, Im not sure its late and Im going to bed, before I ramble on much more.

The Bard's Song.

By the way, good to hear you and your girlfriend seem to be happy again.

I was actually considering this along with a couple other BG songs.

And thanks. We are better now than we ever have been.

Ladies and Gentleman we have a winner! :D

At my best mate's sister's wedding, they asked for elvis for the bride & groom's dance. The fucking DJ played suspicious minds...it's about infidelity! Jackass.
