Thanks for all the Feedback guys. Unfortunately, I can't downlaod the Dying Fetus albums due to my achingly slow internet connection. I recently discovered Nile, great band. :D

thx mate :D

NP
Béla Bartok "Complete String Quartets - Keller Quartet"
(beautiful, yet not easy, music ! 8) )

Cogratulations Stefan for listening to Bartok's quartets! Still, i think, this is some pretty easy music compared to Enesco, Berg, or Schonberg's string quartets.

BTW, the Vegh Quartet versions of the Bartok quartets is the fuckin' best!

I didn't think it's like THAT hard to get into either... most doom and ambient is way harder on me... I should listen to this stuff more often...

Their first two lp's are indeed essential; they might also be a good place to start with DM since they're chock full of memorable riffs and hooks (I mean... "Not dead... yeeeet! PREMATURE BURIAL!!").

I see our new adept is getting into Nile, top class choice. Don't die before listening to In Their Darkenes Shrines and Amongst The Catacombs Of Nephren-Ka (my personal faves, though all their stuff rules supreme)... and if you do, come back mummy-style just to play them loud ;)

Hey guys, wondering if you could give a fledgling death metal fan some advice on purchases? (No snide remarks, my musical tastes have impoved considerably since my last time on the forum)

Try some Amon Amarth. Pretty accessible, but excellent groovy death metal. Or "War Master" by Bolt Thrower, real war music.
Or Dismember, or early Entombed or Grave.
I'm not a big fan of american style death metal, but Death is obligatory stuff.

You get the point, the list is endless.

:o He lies! Meshuggah IS death metal. I'd like to know your reasoning for why it isn't...

Meshuggah has much more death elements then it has thrash... metal archives isn't necessarily the ultimate source for genres.
