The John Butler Trio is the best I've heard out of Australia in a good while.

I went for the samples on Relapse website (2 songs, solar burn & first contact, audio & video, I hate clips) and, well, it's not bad... kind of reminds me of quieter Grip Inc. with a stoner/nu metal influence that fits alright... I'll try the full album asap... so thx 8)
but, so far, I still like Wolfmother better :P

NP
Facedowninshit

These guys shit me to tears. Super popular here, and just boring as fuck bluesy-rootsy crap.

Wolfmother are quite ok, not spectacular, but theyre alright imo. But fuck are they everywhere here. All my 'normal' friends, that listen to pop shit as well as alternative rock stuff, think they are like the heaviest and coolest thing they have ever heard. All over the radio and the tv, so good for them i guess.

And the best aussie bands are:

Pathogen
Psycroptic
Alarum

only aussie bands I know are ACDC and Black Majesty
therefore, I can exhaust my knowledge of australian music by claiming Black Majesty>ACDC
