K.I.N.G seems to be a really horrible track. I'm not a big fan of earlier Satyricon either, but this album sounds like it could be pretty bad.

no, nothing impressive about the new satyricon.. if you want to be impressed buy Dark Medieval Times :P - the only Satyricon album that really have impressed me so far...

Agreed, except that unlike an ass it has no practical value in real life.

For me Dark Medieval times has some great moments, but tends to spend way too long just rambling, and a lot of the mood switches seem really awkwardly taped together.

PS: There was another annoying review of it in Metal Hammer. It seems their writers are contractually obliged to attack "bedroom internet elitist losers" with every single review of any band that has increased in popularity.

yeah.. quite annoying :? ... it's just like racism.. completely based on ignorance... and i could imaging that "bedroom internet elitist losers" is a term used to cover all the none popular black metal bands, which count 99,99 % of all black metal bands. Ppl who determine how much the like a band based on their popularity and how many records they sell shouldn't be listening to black metal in the first place... they tends to forget that many black metal bands aren't playing to achive fame and money, and that many don't play music to please other but themselves.

hmmmm, its not that bad, like maybe a 60 or 65. the lyrics are dumb as shit though. There a few interesting riffs.

So is any Satyricon worth getting?

'To the mountains' isnt THAT bad.

Children of Bodom did not change their sound.

Dimmu Borgir are Black Metal in the 21st century.

I'm surprised people even give this a shot (I did too), they're a Roadrunner band now, what would you expect? This sucks, I'm listening to Nemesis Divina now.

I haven't heard much of the album apart from K.I.N.G. and the title track. 'Now, Diabolical' sounded pretty good, black 'n roll quite simply. Live it most definatly worked, great stuff really.

But then again, I'm not very tr00.

.:crast:.

Try the aforementioned "Dark Medieval Times", "The Shadowthrone", "Nemesis Divina",and "The Forest is my Throne". those are all great classic Black Metal albums. "Rebel Extravanganza" is excellent, IMO, but has a different sound. "Volcano" is allright, but not essential. I haven't heard the newest one so I can't offer an opinion.

The first three albums and their split with Enslaved (The Forest is My Throne) as mentioned before!

I still love Dark Medieval Times, the production on that album was simply perfect. Like others said, Shadowthrone and Nemesis Divina are good as well, plus split with Enslaved. Rebel Extravaganza isn't half-bad either.
