Well... For me, Brave New Wold > The X Factor > Virtual XI > Dance Of Dead.

Of these, Brave New World is the only one I listen often. And is not a Dickinson - Bailey question, is that I preferlisten to the old songs.

But X Factor is older than BNW!

Oh, and the statement that Virtual XI > Dance of Death is horribly false, but then again, so would be the statement that Virtual XI > gooey dog shit.

gooey dog shit > afeigel :P

rock hard dog shit > Radagast

Yeah, what I tried to say is... I just listen the first 7 Maiden albums usually, BNW and FotD sometimes, the rest never.

I second that

Could be true, if it wasn't for that terrible production The X-Factor had. The band sounded like they were in a closet 20,000 leagues under the sea. I've heard it sounds great if you have degenerative hearing loss like Steve Harris does. Not going to test that theory though.

The guitars lack power, that's true, but the production is not terrible ; it's not like Venom's Black Metal production!

Anyway Maiden never really had powerfull guitars, except maybe on Powerslave, but even for that year(84), other bands sounded much more powerfull(Metallica, Celtic Frost, Metal Church, Savatage).

Of The first 7 Maiden albums I have only heard "Piece of Mind" and "Seventh Son.." and Piece of Mind was the best of the two IMO.

And other than those two, I've heard in full only Brave New World and thats it, of those three BNW is my favorite.

The Wicker Man, Ghost of The Navigator, Brave New World, Blood Brothers, Dream of Mirrors, The Nomad, Out of The Silent Planet.
Thats 7 out of 10 songs from that album that I consider excellent and the other ones are good, just not as good IMO.

My best friend's favorite band is Maiden to, so I hear their old material alot, but there is just something about alot of the old music that doesnt appeal to me at all.

Huh? First you say Bruce sucks and Blaze is better, now you're comparing The X-Factor's production to Venom's Black Metal? You must get some good Crack over there in France man. Black Metal's sound was intentional, The X-Factor sounds like shit because Steve Harris is half-deaf.

I guess Harris doesn't want the guitars too loud in Maiden, because he wants his bass to dominate the whole sound; i think Bruce sucks as a person, but he's a great singer; i prefer Blaze's voice: darker, doomier, more dramatic....and more unique, imo.

I prefer Blaze on the X-Factor type of songs, but he really suck singing classic maiden tunes.

Thats because those classic songs were made for Bruce's voice style. Its the same for bruce when he sings Blaze-era maiden songs, like Sign Of The Cross. Nowhere near as good as the way Blaze sung it. Go listen to As Live As It Gets for a great live version of that song.

I prefer Blaze's vocals better than Bruce's in Maidens last 2 albums. Bruce's voice doesnt have that impact anymore as he once did. Hey, he's getting older, thats what happens.

X-Factor did have some production probs, mostly with the volume on the cd, way lower than on other albums. Apart from that, i dont hear any other production probs.

Blaze's Blood & Belief better than DOD....maybe better than BNW. Definatelly better riffs and vocals

Silicon Messiah is another album with frustrating production. It sounds really thin (mostly the drums), especially for a Sneap-produced record.

Really? I certainly think his voice has changed but I still think he rocks on many of the songs, especially Journeyman.

I agree, the production was maybe slightly different and darker, listen to the hollow accoustic intros for example, but it wasn't a bad production.

Maybe but, Bruce's solo stuff > all of maiden and blaze :)

Number of the Beast. The title track and The Trooper are two of my favourite songs of theirs.
