What is hugely neglected is underground music. This site reviews PLENTY of mainstream artists, but there will never be enough mainstream artists reviewed, or classics reviewed for everyone.

You said it ! Underground metal encompasses all genres, which is pretty huge. Well i'm not gonna rant so much about why you guys should review underground stuff. There are other sites that already hails the underground. In the end of the day it's the reviewers that should be reviewing the things that they like, not just promos they receive from major labels.

This week's Annihilator review is crap. Completely overrated and misleading.

I dig alot of non metal genres too, but i'd rather read a non metal review from someone who appreciates metal as a whole. Not some bedroom norsecore elitist turned spacerock.

So we can't? There are other sites that review all the mainstream shit, too. We have a bunch of different reviewers here that review a bunch of different things. I like to review bands that you won't find reviewed on all the other reviewing websites. To me, reviewing bands that you know every other review site will review is unsatisfying. I like to hear new bands and I also like to share new bands with people. Still I have also reviewed mainstream bands, too. I'm not against it, I just think hearing new, unheard of bands is far cooler than reading something on a band you already know.

That's flat out wrong. If we always reviewed bands we liked the reviews would be borderline fanboy exultations rather than objective reviews. And again, for the 400th time, when promos come in they must be reviewed. Plain and simple.

Opinion vs. opinion. Neither right, neither wrong. That's the idea.

ah, fuck, it's like this?

I'll review some Saint Vitus and !T.O.O.H.! next week if that helps our true/underground status.. I didn't realise it had gotten this bad.

There are indeed many good new, unheard of bands today, underground or not. There are also old, unheard of bands that people have skipped under the radar. The internet has helped increased many of these band's fanbase than it otherwise would've in the 80's, but they are still largely being ignored to this day. My point wasnt to start reviewing only old bands anyway. Many new underground bands (distributed by underground labels) are also neglected here anyway. I dont remember seeing releases from Nuclear War Now!, Barbarian Wrath/Witches Brew, Hells Headbangers etc being reviewed here. I think they are all good labels releasing good metal bands playing with honesty and integrity. Anyway just pointing out what you guys have been missing on.

In my opinion, it's better to review something you bought and like instead. It makes for passionate reviews :P.

I dont know if that's sarcasm or not. Anyway long gone are the times where i actually look forward to the reviews here. I'll definately look forward for the Saint Vitus review, and hopefully on an album which i dont already own :P.

Also for a metal webzine, i sense alot of 'anti metal' rhetoric going around lately.

Let's put it this way, I buy most of the music I review, but promos are sent. What would you propose we do for those obscure bands that even we don't know about? I mean, someone needs to bring them to our attention, whether it's labels or bands. Are you going to start sending us promos? Not everyone has the money here to go out and take a chance on a band simply because it would please the readers.

Moreover, it takes me at least 2 hours to write a review, those are the shorter reviews. Should we all spend 10 - 15 hours a week writing reviews just to cover all the bands that people want us to review? It would be an endless battle, no one would ever be happy. I think, at some point, you guys are going to have to start using the "I'll take what I can get" mentality. Take a chance on some new music. How often are reviews posted that NO ONE replies on?

The reviews are just fine. This guy is just whining for the sake of whining. It's your site, do what you want. I may not like everything reviewed, but hey, can't please everybody.

You can drop the NS from that, black metal is completely forgotten in this site.

All ya gotta do is get someone to look it over-you'd write kick ass reviews, if a couple of fags can't take the fact that your spelling isn't perfect (even when English isn't yopur native language) just leave it at that. I can't spell for shit.

Hmm, I dunno. I never thought about this. I'd give it a shot if people would appreciate it but if I do it it will be mostly underground and popular bm and I'm not sure if anyone would care. Besides I dunno if my music knowledge is that good.

I'd appreciate it. This place needs some more BM. Daniel is doing a wonderful job, but he can only write that many reviews at a time. And i'd say you have a pretty good grasp of modern BM, at least.

And, yeah, bring on the NSBM! (big time emphasis on the smilie!)
