Both bands that have had a huge amount of success. One from UK and the other from the US. Initially I liked Bon Jovi better, but slowly my preference started moving to Def Leppard. Although Bon Jovi has got the better vocalist, Leppard rocks harder and well, just seem to be better. What do you folks think?

Well, considering Def Leppard are my all time favorite band I think I'm a bit biased. Hahaha. Still, though Def Leppard still does well (their Rock Of Ages hits compilation just broke one million sales in less than a year), Bon Jovi definitely have a better grasp on marketing their band. Of course, give them a singer like Joe Elliot who's not a sex symbol and they'd probably be neck and neck. Still, I think Bon Jovi is more relevant now. Both are actually great bands.

close minded question: where is the "they both suck" option?

This is why Bon Jovi is still so relevant. Even men want to fuck him.

Pfffft. Only chicks and fags listen to Bon Jovi. In the 80's the easiest way to get your ass kicked was admitting that you liked Bon Jovi.

That being said, post-Pyromania Leppard is also chick music.

Yeah, but I was a chick until 1991, so that makes it ok. :P

I'm with Eternal Idol.

(I don't mean to sound gay or anything, but) fuck Bon Jovi. If i want to listen to something homoerotic, i'll put on some Modern Talking or some shit like that. :D

I voted for Def Leppard; i like them better "thes days", mostly because of High'n'Dry which is a truly kickass album, better than any Bon Jovi album! Some time ago i was more a Bon Jovi fan, and i still like them, even though Jon is an asshole, and their acoustic album This Left Feels Right really makes me embarassed to be a Bon Jovi fanboy...

Love both, but it's a cakewalk victory for the Jove. Slippery When Wet is tied with [take a wild guess] as my favorite hair metal/rock album of all time, and Jon Bon Jovi is probably my second favorite vocalist after the air raid siren.

I actually respect what they did with that album. I don't own it, but I've heard songs. They could have easily just recorded note for note acoustic versions, but they essentially went in and rewrote those songs. That's cool if you ask me, quality aside.

reallllllllyyyyy dislike bon jovi, to the point that it hurts.

Def leppard has some catchy songs and some pretty good musicianship. All thought thats the product of their bootcamp liek creation.

That's called musical masturbation.

Musicianship = musicianshit.

Musical masturbation is also known as Yngwie. Taking a song and completely re-writing it, musically, is not. That CD has a serious country/souther rock swagger to it, not really my style, but it didn't come off as bad.

Yngwie owns you all! Well, he used to kick ass big time, now he's sorta cool.

My point was: taking a song and completely re-writing it just for the sake of re-writing it, quality aside, is musical masturbation.
While i respect musicianship, it's really worthless if it doesn't produce good music. What's hot and what's not is for everyone to decide for themselves, of course.

But what would we debate if not opinions? Facts?

Nothing too serious. I was just trying to bust your balls a bit, i'm bored at school. :)
