I'd have to agree with Ken about the score for this. Death Unlimited was slow and boring, Till Death Unites Us is an overall improvement. While not perfect it still has it's good songs to back it up.
I agree that the middle of the album is weak, except for Omen which is a killer tune and the clean vocals come from Kristian Ranta not from Petri. The songwriting have gone up since the previous album and I really love the guitar work.

I heard two of these songs on their Myspace and wasn't very impressed. Too slow and straightforward. Also, Ranta's vocals really border on the abysmal. Why do so many harsh vocal bands feel the need to add in awful whiny vocals? Clean vocals, fine, but why does it always need to be harsh/whine instead of harsh/falsetto or some other combination?

Its perhaps worth noting that Ranta wrote the biggest percentage of the music this time around.

Fan disappointment is the price a band pays for adding dynamics such as this to their music. I've always liked Norther, but it's always been hard to not hear repitition in their songs. At least now, while not being amazing, most of the songs have their own identity whereas before a lot of the songs sounded a bit "samey."

What the hell happened?!: 1 decent album, 1 good album and 1 excellent album and then after all that building up they just crash and burrrrnnn. I honestly cant even remember one really good song after 2 full listens, the only song that sticks with me is "Fuck You" because its stupid.

What's up with the review?! I find it paradoxial. First off, based on the review, the reviewer basically only liked the first 3 songs then described everything else more or less crap. How come this translates to a noticeably high 69 score?! I don't find the actual review relating to the score at all :x
And why does the reviewer list The End Of Our Lives as one of the two killing tracks when in the review she said it was "forgettable"?!?!?! :!:

CASE FILE 01/06 KO:

Have you experienced oxymoronic situation?

[x] Yes
[ ] No

Was it just now?

[x] Yes
[ ] No

How strongly did you feel about it?

[ ] It was nothing. Probably nothing...
[ ] It was mild.
[ ] I truly felt it. It was genuine.
[x] I have never felt this strong about it! Please, someone help me!?

Do you believe in oxymorons?

[x] Yes
[ ] No

Are you ghay?

[ ] Yes
[ ] No
[x] Wtf?!

*cough*

69 means "Try Before Buy" according to the MR rating system.

I think it goes well with what I said. Feel free to disagree.

00-19 = Your Own Risk
20-39 = Poor
40-49 = Below Average
50-59 = Medium
60-69 = Fair
70-79 = Very Good
80-89 = Outstanding
90-99 = Masterpiece
100 = Legandary

I think a score of "Fair" is very appropriate. She didn't say the album was bad, she said "it’s nothing we haven’t heard before". Big difference. As for the Killing Songs, that part is relative. It doesn't mean the song is an amazing tune, it's for the best of the CD and according to the review the CD isn't that great so a forgettable track could very likely be one of the best of the CD, relatively speaking.

Nice defending Mr.Attorney  Well, I would agree with most of what you said, HOWEVER the overall feeling you get from the review is very negative, I probably didn't find anything positive about it apart from mentioning the first couple of songs as some of the better ones. Thus glancing upon the scale u just posted, it equals to Below Average or Medium.

To be more specific about the killing songs: Ok, the problem I have with this is, that based on the review I got the impression that the first 3 songs were the best material on the disc, so how come the reviewer then picks a song she describes as "forgettable" over some of the "better ones"?! I'm like wtf! Oxymoron+1

Now, I'd like to remind that I'm not bashing the review or the reviewer, coz that's how this make me feel, but just the correlation to the score. So now, if you'd want us to believe that this was truly a "fair" album then I would have needed to read something (more) positive about it to why it was such. Like for instance in the end: "Despite the shortcomings this was still a fair album". But what we get instead is something thorougly opposite "..better to avoid this one.." :!:  Doesn't sound fair to me

I really haven't got much of a defense against the Killing Songs part now, you make a good point.

As for the overall feel of the review, I felt it essentially said that the CD wasn't a bad CD, it's just rather typical and nothing special, nothing new.
