Triggered it to be commercial...

no, it was already commercial thanks to the likes of Kid Rock, Rage Against the Machine, Anthrax, etc.

Limp Bizkit came out in 1997, Machine Head started "rapping" if you really call that rapping in 1999.

Limp Bizkit wasn't popular back then, they became later.

I think they cleared the way for such bands to emerge. anyways, I don't credit them for being having everybody think they are what metal is about, and for spoiling metal with rap.

I think I rather have rap in metal than those annoying harsh vocals. Now most non-metal people likely think metal is all about those types of vocals.

I remember when I was young, people at school hated Bruce Dickinson or Rob Halford for their high-pitched vocals, Slayer or Exodus for their "harsh" vocals... hell, someone even told me Joe Elliot was shouting more than singing... so, I guess the problem for non-metal heads is not so much the vocals they dislike but the metal label they reject without getting too much attention on the music !

where exactly do you draw the line at commercial metal? at more than 500 records sold?

seriously this black metal obsession of yours is getting annoying. Metallica and Pantera were simple and commercial, not deserving your respect despite their importance (undeniable), yet when Jaden says Burzum sucks (not saying i agree with him, mind you), HE'S an idiot. screw you.

the stuff after the debut (though most people still seem to like that boring plodding Change album) i hated, but the first one killed, and apparently so does the new one.

I have to admit, one of my pet peeves are these metal fans who like to show off what big metalheads they are by saying any somewhat popular metal band sucks, and then trying to compare them unfavorably to the most obscure, unknown band they can think of. Seriously, do you (not you personally, btw) have to be so damn isolated from the rest of the world just because you think that makes you "unique"?

Or could it be, that, oh I dont know... he just doesn't care for them?
And that the bands in question are mainstream becomes their sound appeals to the majority, and what appeals to the majority does not appeal to those of us into more obscure acts?
You assume an awful lot when you make such baseless statements.

Let's all listen right now to Amon Amarth and share our mutual love for metal, shall we?

HAHA! Deal with it!
Why do you alays say"screw you" or something similar when someone says something that you don't agree with?
You seem to be lacking in the manners department.
And do you really think that anyone cares that you are annoyed by the multitude of Black Metal commentary going on?

When you continually put forth arguments that equate population groups with musical taste, then what do you think people will assume you are implying?

Just curious... if you don't like harsh vocals, how can you like extreme metal?

i have no qualms with you disagreeing on bands... but somehow when jaden there says burzum sucks he doesn't know what he's talking about. you like them, he outright says they suck... yet you're right about metallica/pantera/whoever, and he is wrong about burzum.

and Winter, that's just it... non-metal fans' opinions on metal DON'T COUNT FOR SHIT. assuming metal is all screaming and noise and satan is like assuming that rap is all bling bling, bitchez and low riddah'z.
