Om - Conference of the Birds

 This is pretty damn cool. Hey Dee can you recommend some stuff in the same vein. I see that both of these guys are in Sleep so maybe I will have to check them out.

definely Sleep, yes, and also YOB and Ocean Chief. also, Om's previous album, "Variations on a Theme" is very cool too.

I love those huge stoner doom tracks, just riffs and sick stoned vocals for god knows how long, like caveman music.

I'll accept that. Great song, which pretty much signals the end of PL as a doomdeath band and their gradual change to a mediocre groovy goth-rock act.

Agreed. 'As I die' is the best song they've made according to me. I like Draconian Times too though, it's just not very doom/deathy.

Aaaaah...I disagree...That song disrupts the whole flow of the album and some of the growling is hilarious "Allriiight!"

how d'ya like the Cales, Orion? I didn't think many people had heard of them..

np: Thulsa Doom - Keyboard, Oh Lord! Why Don't We?

this stoner rock band is somehow reminding me of the Super Furry Animals. probably by being psychedelic and very silly indeed. that and layered vocals. and nonsensical song titles and lyrics. and the Beach Boys worship. and the slide guitar. I guess a more sane comparison would be QOTSA but I'm not much of a fan of them.

FUCK THIS RULES! I only checked them out because apparently Reverend Bizarre are doing a split with them, or a tribute to them, or something. Reverend Bizarre = endless source of good music.

Oh yeah! Have you heard the lyrics in the bridge from "The Goddess of Doom" by Reverend Bizarre?

Rev. B wrote:
Saint Vitus and Trouble, Witchfinder General,
Count Raven, The Obsessed and Pentagram,
Solitude Aeturnus and Candlemass,
Penance, Revelation, Solstice and Iron Man,
Mirror of Deception and Pagan Altar,
Cirith Ungol, Exitus and Scald,
Internal Void, Paul Chain and Warning,
Unorthodox, Cathedral and Cold Mourning.

that's the best doom advice ever. in closing, doom is strongest.

I thought Cales was pretty good. I downloaded a Doom megapack off of Kerrazy-torrents last week. Has some really great stuff. I also ordered a couple Cathedral albums so those should be coming in sometime fairly soon here.
