I owned the two following albums, "Open the Gates" (1985) & "The Deluge" (1986) which I thought were quite good... but that was before I grow tired of this band and his sound...

Robert Lowe is indeed great; but to claim he's better than Messiah Marcolin...i wouldn't go that far.

I'm not a big fan of Candlemass, but their influence is undeniable, and Epicus is a real classic.

Manilla Road is Doom Metal. Just because Necropolis is a little bit faster doesnt take away from the doomy quality of the song. The rest of the album is slower.

But indeed, all Hail Manilla Road.

Manilla Road has a few speed metal albums, but overall they are doom indeed :)
