And that I'm An American song isn't as dreadful as I was expecting. Answer me truthfully, would I like OMC uno?

Depends on your thoughts regarding softly-produced power metal with a hint of prog and orchestration.

Monsieur Tate claimed not to know what power metal was in the recent Terrorizer interview. I'll dig further...

Yeah just like Joachim Cans says Hammerfall aren't Power Metal.

Although O:M is not exactly PM, its the best description I could give. Its certainly not Prog Metal, right Dee?

Makes sense because Queensryche are not a power metal band. They're a rock band that's had a lot of metal thrown in the mix, thus confusing people.

I'm listening to some songs off of "Empire", and getting Prog-influences. Maybe I'll buy something by these guys. I assume OMC I is the place to start?

Depends who you ask. They certainly got less Metal and increasingly would-be prog (read: soft rock) as they went on. with O:M being their third album and fourth release overall, its not their heaviest effort.

Not really a problem. I can see why Misha got burnt out with metal, I think I need a break if I'm going to appreciate it properly...

I assume they didn't release any howlers? No St. Angers...?

I'll give the stage to someone else on that one.

HaHa!

Let's see, as afar as crap they have released a lot.

Hear in the Now Frontier
Q2K
Promised Land
Tribe

These are all "Progressive" Rock garbage. It's not even Progressive, just retilling fields that bore crops for other bands long before the 'Reich came to town. Plenty of bands do what QR was going for on these albums and do it better. Now, the early stuff is nice NWOBHM-inspired stuff. Warning and the S/T are the two best albums they've ever done. Download the song "Queen of the Reich" and if you don't dig that, I doubt you'll dig them at all. You said you liked Empire? Well, the stuff that made Empire great? It's nowhere to be found on anything after that album.

I was listening to something off "Tribe" just now and liked it. Still, I see your point. Early is good, as with every other band in existence.

First off, Promised Land is a killer album! Dark, moody, excellent! Hear In The Now Frontier is a great rock album, more of a Chris DeGarmo solo album, though, as he wrote 99% of the album. Still great. Q2K and Tribe are where things get shaky, they're not bad albums by any means, but they're just rather mediocre overall. Each have some really good tunes, though, but when I'm in the mood each album can come off as really good.

Well sure, if they had taken every good song on those albums and made one album out of it, things would look a lot better. As it stands, there is way too much filler on all of them for me to reccommend them to someone in good conscience.

I recommend them, but with a disclaimer. Hehe. There are some great tunes, though. Sacred Ground, Liquid Sky, Right Side Of My Mind, Open, Blood, to name a few off the top of my head.

as far as i'm concerned, anything Queensrÿche have ever done is awesome. So stop bashing one of my favourite bands!!!

Operation: Mindcrime. That is definitely something on my "To Buy" list. Perhaps for the merry month of May?

I'll probably also pick this up since I'm a sucker for those kinds of concept albums. Plus, Keeper Of The Seven Keys: The Legacy showed (IMHO) that a musical "sequel" can easily be just as good as the original.

Get it. It's worthy of all of the praise it gets. It's the best concept album I've ever heard. It actually has a story you want to hear.

As far as the second one, I haven't heard the whole thing and that I'm American song didn't impress me. Maybe a DL before you purchase.
