I never claimed to be a black metal fan. I'm a complete death metal fiend. I just dabble in Black metal.

Too much black metal sound like this:

Meh, who needs Darkthrone? The band that invented their sound, Tormentor (the Hungarian band), pretty much pwns them all the way: ELIZABETH BATHORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Darkthrone at least has 5 albums that are better than Anno Domini. And where is Tormentor today, where were they when Darkthrone created the underground bm scene whic I worship now ?

Well, Darkthrone more or less copied their sound from Tormentor. And their Anno Domini pwns Darkthrone's stuff.

Their music isn't that much like Tormentor. How do you know they copied them, how do you know they even heard them ? Darkthrone never claimed to be unique, they admit that they got influenced by Celtic Frost and stuff. They take pride in being old school black metal. 1 album against a whole black metal legacy which spawned countless wannabees, you're making a weak case here.

Listen to Elisabeth Bathory and tell me they don't sound allike. Chances are large they heard them, as Atilla is their vocalist.

Yes they do sound alike, but that doesn't mean they heard Tormentor and if you know a little about them you should know that they were more into electronica techno stuff before they started Dakthrone and they probably had not heard a romanian band which nobody cared for at the time, since there is no internet or no such thing as a black metal scene. Even if they were Tormentor fans they would say it like they said they were influenced by Bathory and Celtic Frost. There is no proof that they were influnced by Tormentor but half of my music collection tells me that many people were influenced by Darkthrone.

To dig up an old body, are you ready to get owned on your rant? ;)

Aarrghh! Darkthrone > you.

Ok, this means you're ready to get pwned. A few hours ago, I accidently found evidence that pwns your rant about how Darkthrone doesn't know a meaningless band like Tormentor, who are from Hungary and all. You must have heard of the compilation Fenriz Presents: The Best Of Old School Black Metal right? Well, quess who are one that compilation? YES, Tormentor! And can you guess what track he picked to put on the album? YES, Elizabeth Bathory!!!

Sorry to break your enthusiasm but that doesn't prove anything. You're saying they copied tormentor, for that they must have heard about them in the early 90s, this compilation came out last year. He might have heard about Tormentor in any time in those 15 years and so your evidence is shite.

I said "how do you know they even heard them ?". Besides that wasn't the main point i was making. Your accusations of music theft remains unproven.

I'd say that Darkthrone is definitely influenced by Tormentor among others. But there is a big difference in their music I think. Transylvanian Hunger sounds nothing like Tormentor and already at Under A Funeral Moon Darkthrone started to have that feeling.. That black metal romanticism that makes the genre (at least the good bands in the genre) so great. Tormentor is extremely good (and Anno Domini should be in the classic section of this very site) but they are not entirely black metal as Darkthrone is.

I'm not acusing anyone of theft, I just point out that it's the main influence of their sound.

It's nothing like it indeed, but that one song is!

I find TCIA gets rather boring rather quickly. Not as good as it initailly appeared to be, after all...

And let's just say it, shall we? That video was shite.
