I recently went off Slayer, but I like them again now. I actually need to buy Master of Puppets again, I've lost it. Both albums are awesome, Master of Puppets being the more mature 'progressive effort', with Reign in Blood being the balls out don't give a fuck one. Right now I vote Reign in Blood-but trust me-I hold them pretty much equal.

I'd take any number of other classic albums from that same year over either. Kreator, Bathory, Megadeth, and At War come to mind.

Seriously? Or is this more of that internet sarcasm?

As for the question at hand although I like both I prefer MOP. Orion kicks major amounts of ass.

This one is easy....

"MASTER....MASTER....MASTERRRRRRR"

Puppets all the way.

Didnt like Reign In Blood, plus it only goes for about 30 minutes or something, not long enough, even for the 80's

Both I find to be good, if incredibly overrated, albums. While Reign probably has the best song (Raining Blood), I think Puppets is slightly more consistent and thus pulls away the win. In any case, I find South of Heaven to be the best Slayer and Ride the Lightning the best Metallica.

Reign In Blood's 30 minutes are enough to deliver its message.

These are two different kind of albums, one is thrash, one is thrash-influenced metal. You can't really compare.

But overall Master Of Puppets is the better album.

These are two different kinds of cat food, one is chicken-flavored meat product, one is beef-flavored meat product. You can't really compare.

But overall, the beef-meat product wins.

(PS: neither is very good, but Slayer is better)

Yeah, and that message is that the very first song is the only awesome song on the whole album....the rest are unmemorable

God this has got to be the most played out argument ever. Every message board has the same poll. Metallica or Slayer. MOP or RIB....goddamnit.

But I guess I'd go with RIP, I can still listen to some slayer albums, whereas I can't listen to Metallica at all anymore. They sucked back then, and they're even worse now. Commercial accessible metal is bull shit and thats no way to measure a bands impact. True metallica inspired a lot of heavy metal bands, but the fact is that Metallica copied and pasted stuff from just about every NWOBHM band on the face of the planet. Fuck them. Give me Exciter or death!!!
