Hrmm interesting side-note, The Sex Pistols will be put in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame sometime in the near future. (announced over the radio) However, they sent in a note scrawled hastily on a napkin that they are refusing to attend the ceremony.

where does one sign up to be a rock expert? do they mean geologist?

As far as types of rock go, I have to rank the geological type well behind the seaside candy type.

And as we're on the subject of punk, RIP Pig Champion

Oh, and anyone that doesn't think Never Mind the Bollocks has great songs on it is a big wierdo. :P

Ooooohhhh, they don't want to go into the RNR Hall of Fame. WOW. What rebels they are. They don't deserve to be in the Hall anyway. They suck. How does a band who put out 1 album of note, that sucks the chrome off of a trailer hitch, that record sales show no-one listened too, get so much credit? Because Sid Vicious killed his girlfiriend. That's the only reason anyone cares about that fucking "band". Even the Misfits were better musically than the Shit Pistols. Every Punk band was better, and the Ramones were way more influential on the Punk scene. The Pistols just looked the part, and made asses of themselves at every turn. That doesn't make a good band.

Zad:Shut up:I have an inkling that you haven't actually listened to Buried Alive, it 'aint your average Venom song.

Bands with one good song are not good bands.

The Pistols are a perfect example of this. "Anarchy in the UK" and.......oh yeah, everything else was just static set to the tune of Johnny's Rotten heroin wails.(pun intended). That's the only song on the album that even has what could be considered a riff. And Megadeth's version is way better. See how great a song can be when a band with talent plays it.

Maybe you have to be English, but "God Save The Queen" is a great song. As is "Pretty Vacant", and most of the tunes off "Never Mind The Bollocks".

What does being English have to do with anything?

The "God Save The Queen" song. Not much appeal outside of our fair isle, I'd've thought, no?

I think there's more to a song's appeal (or lack thereof) than the lyrics, don't you?

it's fun song and it's good that Chris Spedding played the guitar (on the whole album) because Steve Jones was a lousy axeman back then (now he just managed to be bad ! )

the Sex Pistols are still the Boy's Band of english punk ! :P

NP
Ornette Coleman "The Shape of Jazz to Come"
(wOOt ! jazz !!!)

Of course. All I was saying was, a knowledge of how the real national anthem goes and experience of living in the UK would help you to understand the song better.

Yeah, I know. Sort of the point I was trying to make. About 50% of the Pistols' songs are good fun, the rest are a bit crappy. The hysteria around them just comes from the "politics" that was grafted on by external forces well after the fact (by John Lydon's own admission, of course).

Hrmmm makes you wonder what other musicians might not be so loved without having committed crimes?

Why Arthur, I can't possibly imagine to whom you may be referring...

EDIT: It's not true, though... The Sex Pistols were famous and had sold a shedload of records before Sid Vicous killed his girlfriend (so long as I know my punk history). I think people care about them nowadays because they were rude about Prog Rock... instant credibility

Except Varg could play several instruments, well, and Burzum was popular before that happened. Sid Vicious couldn't even manage playing one(it's rumoured that he isn't on the album eithier) Pretty big difference. Nice try though. Also, big difference between killing someone who had plans to off you and killing an innocent chick because you're in a heroin rage, and she told you something you didn't want to hear.

Lets see, the movie about the Sex Pistols focused on what exactly? Oh, yeah Sid killing his girlfriend.

Maybe I should remake "Sid & Nancy" and call it "Varg & Eurnonymous" with Euro being the woman of course.

Ignoring the "He was going to kill me" bollocks for a moment, I'd like to see you defending Jon Nodfeldt and Faust for killing gays. Word is Varg was out to out-do Faust...
