I enjoyed their first CD when it originally came out. I had bought their follow ups but none of them, with the exception of a song or two, were very good compared to the debut. My tastes in music have changed since then though so I sold those CDs a while ago but I still enjoy the music if I hear it on the radio or something like that.

RATM's first album was pretty good. Not really a big fan of their later albums, though.

I like their music quite a bit.. but their political messages tended to get a bit overblown in the third album, especially when they went on about the year 2000 being the end of the world.

I love them, love the lyrics, and support their anti government lyrics all the way. Lately got their self titled DVD and it was just awesome.

NO SHELTER

The main attraction, distraction
Got ya number than number than numb
Empty ya pockets son, they got you thinkin that
What ya need is what they sellin
Make you think that buyin is rebellin
From the theaters to malls on every shore
The thin line between entertainment and war
The frontline is everywhere, there be no shelter here
Speilberg the nightmare works so push it far
Amistad was a whip, the truth was feathered and tarred
Memories erased, burned and scarred
Trade in ya history for a vcr

Cinema, simulated life, ill drama
Fourth reich culture, americana
Chained to the dream they got ya searchin for
The thin line between entertainment and war

There be no shelter here
The frontline is everywhere

Hospitals not profit full
Yet market bulls got pockets full
To advertise some hip disguise
View tha world from american eyes
Tha poor adore keep fiendin for more
Tha thin line between entertainment and war
They fix the need, develop the taste
Buy their products or get laid to waste
Coca-cola is back in the veins of saigon
And rambo too, he got a dope pair of nikes on
Godzilla pure muthafuckin filler
To keep ya eyes off the real killer

Cinema, simulated life, ill drama
Fourth reich culture, americana
Chained to the dream they got ya searchin for
Tha thin line between entertainment and war

American eyes, american eyes....
View the world from american eyes
Bury the past, rob us blind
And leave nothin behind

Just stare

Relive the nightmare

Does anybody have their live album? If so what do you think of it. Haven't listened to it in a while but i think it's a pretty good live album.

They were hypocritical champagne-socialist bastards. But the first album is very, very good. I haven't heard the third one, but the second was a big disappoinment.

Got the first years ago, is it worth bothering with any of the others? And are Audioslave any good?

Battle of Los Angeles and Evil Empire are good but Renegades isn't as good. Audioslave really isn't that great. Audioslave has a couple decent songs and several that really suck. They are nothing like RATM though.

I am a big fan of RATM. It's funny....I am all bummed out about their breakup and then hear they formed a new band.....WITH CHRIS CORNELL! what a great shot in the balls when I was already down. You think you can escape someone from the early 90s but not only does he show up a decade later, but also pisses on the ashes on one of your favourite bands. he couldnt go screw up GWAR or some other band. No. He goes straight for the remains of RATM. you win this round Cornell...
